ni Scope multi-recording acquision failure (NI TClk)

Hi, everyone. I am quite new to NI TClk function, and my hardware is a NI PXIe-8880 embedded controller with one PXIe-5122 and three PXIe-5413.

What I wanna do is to generate 180 phase shift from two AWG to a simple system and detect the time-domain signal by digitizer. So there is a on-line digitizer setting during the experiment for continuous and multi-recording. Attached with the code.

While there is no cable connected in all front panel now, there is an error "niScope Fetch WDT.vi:5210001<ERR> Maximum time exceeded before the operation completed. Status Code: -200284". I searched some and it is because no trigger received by the scope to start the next acquisition of samples. So what should I do, to connect a right trigger line to the scope (perhaps more specific details of which channel to which channel, Thx)??? Here is how I initiate and configure the scope.

PXI Remote Control Module graceful shut down

Hello,

Is it necessary to connect a PXI chassis with a Remote Control Module (like NI PXIe-8398) to a UPS so that it can be shut down gracefully in the event of a power outage?  Or is this only important when using controllers with embedded computers?

Thanks

Problems with PXI cards using Thunderbolt interface

I purchased a PXIe-1071 Chassis and PXIe-8301 Thunderbolt interface card in order to interface my laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Extreme 2nd Gen, with 2 Thunderbolt ports) with some NI PXI cards (PXIe-5652 signal generator and PXIe-2543 rf multiplexer).

I have NI PXI Platform Services, NI-RFSG, and NI-SWITCH installed in my laptop.

I have tested the cards in a Keysight chassis with an embedded controller and they work fine. However, when I install them in the 1071, both the visibility of the chassis and the 8301 card change within MAX, and I get errors when attempting to connect to both cards. I have uninstalled all NI software and reinstalled several times, and I have tried every possible combination of restarting both my laptop and the chassis, and connecting the thunderbolt cable. The NI video showing the card/chassis combo being plugged into a laptop looks so simple, but that is not at all what happens. Instead I see a mess in NI Max (attached) and cannot communicate with the cards.

Status Code: -50152
A hardware failure has occurred. The operation could not be completed as specified.

Additionally I am unable to open a technical support request for some reason. I would like some support with this or I will be requesting a return, since both the chassis and card are essentially worthless in their current state.

I/Q frequency ramp signal generation

Hello NI,

for an FMCW avalanche radar, we are looking for a signal generator on PXI basis.

The waveform we use is a frequency ramp signal from 0 to 200 Mhz followed by the reverse direction from 200 to 0 Mhz. Each chirp (the complete ramp are two chirps called up-chirp and down-chirp) has a duration of 4ms, so the full sequence will be about 8ms. We need an I/Q signal to feed into the radar transmitter unit, that is a two channel signal with channel Q being 90° phase shifted to channel I. The signal level p-to-p is about 1V from -0.5 to 0.5 V, however, the radar works apparently best if the Q channel has a slightly shifted level against the I channel

Which PXI device can you suggest for my purpose?

I see the pxie-5450 that produces directly an I/Q signal, however, I don't really get the datasheet sayings about the maximum frequency that the device can deliver and if the above mentioned waveform (frequency up followed by down ramp) can be achieved.

I see the bandwidth to be 145Mhz, so we may live with that compared to 200Mhz by sacrifying some range resolution. But the datasheet says something about 0.4xI/Q rate (=58Mhz) and 0.8xI/Q rate (=116Mhz) which would be definitively to small. Any comments on that?

Thank you very much,

Anselm Köhler

Unable to add PXIe-6361 target to RT PXI target running Linux RT

I'm probably missing or misunderstanding something, but after several hours of searching the fix isn't seem obvious to me.

I add the RT PXI Target to a blank project, and I am able to add the 7858R as a target for that. However, the PXIe-6361 does not appear. Moreover, I'm not able to add any PXI related targets anywhere in any project.

One caveat: I'm not able to add the RT PXI Target using the "Discover existing target(s) or device(s)" option. I have to "Specify target or device by IP address". I'm not sure if this matters or not.

The 6361 is reported in PXI Chassis in NI MAX. I'm even able to add it as a simulated device.I have NI-DAQmx installed which, from my understanding in reading the documentation, should be all that is required in terms of drivers for the PXIe-6361 card. I am able to add simulated devices in NI MAX.

There are some screenshots of the project tree and software/hardware configurations in NI MAX and Package Manager below.

Only R Series Targets Available.pngNI Max reports the 6361 in the chassis, but I can only add the R-Series FPGA Target. No X-Series cards available under "Existing target or device" or "New target and device"

Create Virtual Target But None Available at Project Level.pngNo X-Series cards available at the project level but all device types are reported in NI Max

Connectors for customized PCB for PXIe cable assembly

$

Hello,

I am new to the NI documentation and community. I hope I am nor asking for already solved issues or questions.

I need to design customized PCBs that exchange signals with three PXI cards: PXIe-7868, PXIe-6739 and PXI-6509. The purchase also includes this cable assemblies:

- 782914-01

- 189588-01

- 156166-02

- 157599-01

- 185095-02

They are bought in enough quantity to have all card connectors used.

What I am not sure is what would be the appropriate PCB right angle connector part-numbers to connect the cable assemblies to. I have found this information

https://forums.ni.com/t5/Digital-I-O/SCB-68-SHC68-C68-RDIO2-and-a-panel-mounted-connector/m-p/3890733#M22572

In any of the given links there is a reference to the SHC68-C68-RDIO2 mating connector for my customized PCB.

Am I right if I consider the following part numbers?

- TE Connectivity 5787169-7 -> 782914-01

- TE Connectivity 5787169-7 -> 189588-01

- 785633-01 -> 156166-02

- TE Connectivity 5787169-7 -> 157599-01

- 777778-01 -> 185095-02

I hope i made myself understood.

Thank you.

XNET Database signal and XNET-Read

Hello everyone,

On my target device is a CAN interface which sends out different values (String messages, Status signals, Reference voltage) in the telegrams. Since now I decoded the frame manually from the bitstream of the XNET session. This leads to timing and synchronization inconsistencies. Therefore I wanted to use the database functionality of the XNET plugin.

I created a database in the XNET database editor, then a cluster which contains the frame. Under this frame are the signals. If I understand correctly these signals can be programmed to represent the payload in the telegram.

How can I read out these signals in Labview. The read functions returns the whole signal. This is basically the whole telegram already formatted into ID, CRC and the payload. I created a 'Frame In single-point' session and selected my database from the dropdown menu. It seems that it does not matter what DB I use because the read function acts as generic listener.

Is there a separate function where I can select the different Signals?

PXI system support needed

Hi Guys,

I'm a new undergraduate student from University of Tehran. My professor give a brand new National Instruments' PXI device consisting of PXIe-1065, PXIe-8840, PXIe-5413, NI 5762.

The NI 5762 seems failed to work and may need repaired. How can I get support from National Instruments? Is there any ID or something need to be provided to find out the warranty of this device?

I want to use external trigger to control PXI 4139 output current. At the same time, 4139 output triggers 4137 to complete the measurement, and then output the measurement result of 4137 to the outside. To complete such work, what additional hardware platform do I need and what software platform do I need to implement

Looking for documentation concerning the actual devices on the NI PXIe-8840 Quad-Core.  I intend to run my own RT_Linux build and would like to know things like

Ethernet Card (Intel Copper?)

Chipset

USB Controller

SATA Controller

VGA Controller

In case there are any driver issues with my Linux-Build.

375447a.pdf does not provide a detailed list of devices.

Any help would be nice.

PC does not boot with PXI-8331

Hello,

the PC driving our PXI system does not boot anymore when chassis is turned on. If we turn the chassis off then PC boots normally, like if PC was pending a thing from chassis, preventing PC from starting, and never get it. Of course, it was working properly until it wasn't...

We have checked BIOS configuration and we tried with other PCs, different OS : it always repeats the same scenario.

We are afraid it is probably an hardware issue instead of software but if someone already has this kind of issue we'll be glad to share some feedback, mostly to know how diagnosis which part is in default (PCI, PXI, chassis?)

Our system is PXI-8331/PCI-8331 with chassis PXI-1031.

Thanks,

Guillaume

+/-60V analog

I'm updating a design from an old PXI/SCXI frame that uses an SCXI-1104 card for measuring DC voltages larger than the usual +/-10V.  The PXIe-4300 and 4310 look to allow a +/-60V analog signal on the input when looking at them on the system builder, the datasheets imply otherwise.  Am I out of luck measuring these with a PXIe design?  Do I need to jump over to a CompactRIO?  Thank you for any insights.

NI2527 Card error issue

Hello,
I would like to know if someone can say if this error is caused by hardware or a driver issue. I have a tester that gives this error a lot and would not want to change hardware if this can be fixed with driver update. The tester is also located in a remote location with a slow connection so it will be hard to get the driver update.
