unable to configure network device

Hi everyone!

 

I am fairly new to labview and PXI Realtime sytems. However, the last days I got on with it pretty well.

Today I was booting the system and the RT controller (PXI 8106) didn't show up on my MAX. The system disappeared completely under network devices (usually it tells you that there is no connection). So I connected a monitor to the RT controller and got the following message:

 

transferrin control to user program

unable to configure the primary network device

rebooting in 10 secs.

 

and after a few tries it says:

Error bringing up basic services. Cannot start system.

System halted.

 

If I open up the BIOS and set the 'reset IP adress'  to yes, the system gets a little further and tells me:

 

Initializing network

Device 1 - MAC address: 00:80:2F:11:11:FA - 0.0.0.0 (primary)

Reboot due to system error

System state: Unconfigured

ETS TCP/IP: device ether1: another host has the same IP address!

 

Then the device shows up in my MAX with the 0.0.0.0 IP address.

If I put in a static IP address and submask and reboot the system it'll get the error message above...

Simultaneously triggered acquisition: Multiple PXIe-7962R + NI-5734 cards, across multiple PXIe-1085 chasses

Hi all,

 

I need to do high-frequency, high-channel-count acquisition.

 

Specs

  • Signals: 10 MHz, 60 channels
  • Controller: PXIe-8135 (Windows 7)
  • Chasses: PXIe-1085 (2x)
  • Input cards: PXIe-7962R FlexRIO base with NI-5734 digitizer (15x)

 

Description

Each FlexRIO card will store data in circular buffers, and continuously monitor the voltage levels. When any one channel exceeds the user-defined threshold, all 60 channels need to be triggered simultaneously to pass waveform data (200 μs pre-trigger, 300 μs post-trigger) to the host OS for logging.

 

In other words, every FlexRIO card needs the ability to fire the trigger, which is then received by all 15 FlexRIO cards (the card that fires the trigger also needs to receive the trigger).

 

 

Question 

Can I achieve this with only a single PFI line? Or do I need some other technique?

 

I've found some examples, but they only show single-source and single-card triggering, e.g. https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-30182 uses one analogue input to trigger the acquisition of 2 channels on the same card.

 

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

How do I calculate the max latency of a PXI 8135 (controller) to PXI 6528 (DIO) output?

We are using a PXIe- 8135 Controller and a PXI-6528 DIO module in a PXIe-1082 chassis.  We are sending DIO input and output commands using Powershell in Windows 7 on the controller.  Due to tight requirements I need to know what is the max latency from when the Powershell command is issued to when the read input or write output command will take place in the DIO I/Os.

 

If this should be in a different Community Board Location please let me know.

NI 573x Instrument Driver.lvlib:NI 573x Open Session.vi crashes LabVIEW

Hello,

 

Installed FIDL 1.3.4 and the NI-573xR Example Instrument Driver (which was supposedly for FIDL 1.1)

 

I tried to open NI 573x Instrument Driver.lvlib:NI 573x Open Session.vi, and LabVIEW crashes immediately. Has anyone else encountered this?

 

Tested on two different machines: Windows 7 64-bit, as well as Windows 8.1 64-bit. But were running LabVIEW 2014 32-bit.

I have a NI PXIe 1062Q and NI PXIe 8135.  Windows 7 Professional 64-bit installed.

 

I removed all the NI software using the control panel and then installed NI Developer Suite 2012. As part of the install the following was installed:

 

NI Developer Suite Core

FPGA Deployment Option (Excluding Xilinx Compilation Tools 10.1)

Automated Test Option

I2C & SPI

NI Serial + VISA

 

When I start NI MAX it errors with an exception. If I continue it then locks up. All the menus are greyed out! It was working (with the error), but now it locks up completely.

 

I have attached the dump and log file.

 

Also in the rack are:

 

PXI-6509 DIO Card

PXI-7953R + 5734R DAQ + FPGA

CB2-1-PIPE USB controller

PXI-2503 Switch

PXI-4070 DMM

PXI-8430/4 RS-232 Card

swapping hard drives between PXI-8115 and PXI-8105 won't boot up

I have a test system running Windows XP on PXI-8105.  I've upgraded the entire test system for another project and need to upgrade my existing systems; the upgrade runs on Windows 7 and PXI-8115.  I have new hard drives with Windows 7 and the new test software which were loaded/configured/tested on a PXI-8115, but I need to retrofit the PXI-8105 with them.  This doesn't work.  Windows begins to boot but fails and tries over and over again.  In an effort to take the PXI-8105 off-line to troubleshoot, I replaced it with one of the PXI-8115 and the old (WinXP) drive.  This didn't boot up, either.

 

Here's a summary of my situation:

  • An old system has PXI-8105 running WinXP
  • A new system has PXI -8115 running Win7
  • A hard drive (with Win7) from the PXI-8115 won't boot on the PXI-8105
  • A hard drive (with WinXP) from the PXI-8105 won't boot on the PXI-8115

What is different between the two PXI controllers that keeps me from swapping hard drives?

Synchronizing 5772s using 6674T

We need to synchronize two 5772 using external clock with a sampling rate of 665MHz. We are planning to use 6674T for generating clock at 665MHz from two outputs. However according to Figure A-8 in the manual of 6674T, the signal level at these frequencies are below 800mVpp. But 5772 accepts +2 dBm (800 mVpk-pk) to +16 dBm (4 Vpk-pk) according to its manual. 

 

Do you think 5772s will lock to the clock of 6674T at 665MHz.

Can VST measure VSWR or insertion loss?

First of all, I'm not well versed in RF/telecommunications.

 

We have VST, NI PXIe-5644R, and I'm wondering if it can be used to measure VSWR, reflection coefficient or insertion loss.  We are in UHF frequencies and exploring testing capabilities in antenna tuning.

 

I appreciate any insight.

Is it automatically shutting down to get it protected or other?

Hi

 

I have a NI PXI system composed of a controller 8109 plus a 8231 board (3 Eth port in total, each one configured with a different IP address): is it possible to configure one Eth port with 2 IP address (I need to communicate with 2 different devices with 2 different IP address) without adding a supplementary board  ?

Hi All,

 

I have few voltage signals to measure programatically from DUT but only one channel to measure i.e DMM PXI-4071 card, now i am using a PXI-2520 card to switch the voltage signals on after the other.

Any one suggest me how i have to do wiring among DUT signals to PXI-2520 and PXI-4071.

Advice on arranging modules in a 2-chassis PXIe system

Hello,

 

System contents

We have a system that consists of:

  • 2 PXIe-1085 chasses, connected via a PXIe-8384/PXIe-8360
  • 15 FlexRIO cards (PXIe-7962R + NI-5734), to acquire data at 10 MHz
  • 1 function generator (PXIe-5412)
  • 1 timing card (PXIe-6672)
  • Other cards (switches and low-speed I/O)

 

Use cases

  1. In one mode of operation, we need 60 FlexRIO channels to listen at all times. When any one channel exceeds the threshold, all 60 channels must be simultaneously acquired and logged to disk (i.e. every FlexRIO card must be able to trigger acquisition in in all 15 cards)
  2. In the other mode of operation, we need to generate a pulse from the PXIe-5412, and simultaneously acquire from all 60 FlexRIO channels from the instant the pulse fires.

 

Question

Essentially, we have 17 timing-sensitive cards (15 FlexRIOs + 1 function generator + 1 timing card), but only 16 cards can fit in one chassis (because 2 slots are ocupied by the embedded controller and the MXI-Exprress card). So, one of these need to be on the other chassis. The two obvious options then are:

  1. FlexRIOs plus the function generator on the 1st chassis, timing card on the 2nd chassis.
  2. FlexRIOs plus the timing card on the 1st chassis, function generator on the 2nd chassis.

 

Does it matter which option we go for? Do we get any performance benefits and/or ease of coding either way?

Multisegment PXI chassis: How to select the destination terminal of a software trigger?

Hello,

 

When setting up niSync Connect Software Trigger.vi, I get the choice of 8 PXI_TrigN trigger lines (see screenshot). However, for a multisegment chassis like the PXIe-1085, there are 3 x 8 = 24 PXI_TrigN trigger lines, where each segment has 8 lines.

From some quick testing, it looks like the software trigger connects to the middle segment. I'm just wondering if it's possible to connect directly to the other segments?

 

(This is simply for academic curiosity -- for my real application, I think I'll use the Star Trigger to reach all segments simultaneously)

embeeded controller 8108 boot problem

Hello everey one,

I

I'm using  the embeeded controller 8108 with PXIe 1075 chassis, when i turn it on, all the led (including in the front of the embeeded controller) still off and just the led in power button is green, and the fans are running,

I tried the reset button ...without result 

i'd like to know if some can give me some solution of this problem.

NI Max automatic update of PXI soft panels?

I have got four soft panels installed. NI Max is set to ge updtes. But it seems I'm not getting updates for the PXI Soft panels.

 

Now and then I click the Update Service, including "Updates and Service Packs" but it seems Soft panels are not included? Right now I have NI-scope 4.1 installed while there is up to 4.1.3 available. Im manually downloading it now.

 

My question; can I somehow automatically get updates for my installed PXI Soft panels (with drivers etc)?
