Hi Everybody,

I am using NI PXIe- 1075. contain 5 RFSA. Between time to time I get the  (-200221) which says the Maximum time exceeded  out befor the operation complet . I asked before and advised to use the self calibration. I have five digitizers, I could do self calibration to 4 of them but the fifth one I couldn't do the self calibration for it. I have read a document says there is another soulution by using the property node as shown in the attached picture. but I don't know how to use it. could any of you please help me to explain to me how to use this property node. or have another Idea to solve the problem.

thank you in advance for your attention

PXI-8360 - Module Discovery

$

I am working with a custom designed 8 slot PXI (not PXIe) backplane. I verified that an embedded controller (PXI-8186) was able to identify a single card in each slot - I tried roughly twice in slot with no failures (so ~15 attempts).

I then switched to a PXI-8360 controller connected to a desktop PC running 32 bit Windows 7.  In several instances, NI Max has failed to identify cards installed in the backplane.  When I switched back to an old PXI-1002 chassis (4 slot), things work fine.

I understand there is an issue with BIOS limitations involving the PCI enumeration.  I ran the NI utility to check and it indicates a single root with a range of  [0, 3e].  I assume this means 0-62 devices.  Do empty slots get enumerated as well?  Could this be the cause be the cause of 'sometimes works, sometimes doesn't work'?

I know the PXI chassis must be turned on prior to the PC.  Does the PXI-8360 controller do any discovery at power-up or is it all handled by the PC when it is powered up?

What is the discovery mechanism  the PXI-8360 (or PC) uses to identify any modules installed in the PXI chassis?

Any suggestions as to troubleshooting this issue?

how to acquire external lvds clock on labview. I have used IO module clock 1 and connected to single cycle timed loop. In 40MHz timed loop i enabled the xpoint switch and set IOmodule clock 1 source to strobe bypass. I have also set the properties in Adaptor module settings. i am acquiring clock on stobe signals through SMA 2164 board.

Yet i am getting error that the host and fpga are not able to communicate. clock not detected.. the error which appears when clock is not being detected.

I am creating taks using MAX to run on 4461 for data acquisition.  I need to acquire more data than the 16M memory limit for the task allows.  It there a way to increse this memory limit?

4071 DVM apparent measurement error, voltage measurement drops with test system run time.

I am tasked with supporting a capacitor voltage withstand test system built by an outside contractor. The system measures the voltage across 6 capacitors under test, these are very large value capacitors, say up to 10mF and up to 2KV. The system uses a PXI chassis, 4071 DMM, with a 2527multiplexer. The voltage across the capacitors is sensed via LEM sensors and transformed to a maximum output current ~50mA through precision 100ohm resistors. These voltages are fed into the multiplexer. The system has been on line and operational since 2010. We have seen in the past months a gradual deterioration in voltage accuracy and repeatability. Discussions with LEM educated us to the fact that LEM had problems with the original design voltage sensors, new ones were available with those issues "designed out". Replacing the sensors, and installing linear power supplies provided much improved uniformity of measurements with less random variation in measured voltage. When the test system is turned on, it works as designed. As production lots of 6 capacitors are tested, the measured voltage falls equally on all 6 parts. The programmable Lambda supplies are sourcing the exact voltages requested. It seems that this is a DMM problem. Before I submit a purchase request for a ~$3500 4071 module, I'm open to any other possible ideas to resolve this issue. I am completely unfamiliar with how to program NI systems. There are no error messages displayed on the tester GUI, the tester is controlled by a generic desktop PC. The software runs without problems. Any ideas? I sure thank any folks for thinking about this issue. terryatsbe

connexion chassis PXI MAX

Bonjour,

6683 PPS signal generation

I'm looking to generate a PPS signal on one of the output terminals of the PXI-6683H card. This signal will then be fed to a sensor to ensure its internal clock remains inline with GPS time.I have the 6683H using PTP to ensure the timing of the PXIe controller is maintained as accurate as possible. Unfortunately I don't have much experience in this type of work with the PXI cards.

Does anyone know a good way to accomplish this? Is it even possible?

Thanks

PCI resource error

Hi

I have a PXI system whose components are

- NI PXIe 1082 chasis

- NI PXIe 8880 processor

- NI PXIe 8431/8 RS485/232 communication card

- NI PXI 2564 Relay Module

- NI PXIe 6361 Multifunctional IO

- GE 5565 VMIC communication card.

My operating system is LabVIEW RT 2015. When I run the PXI without plugging in GE 5565 card, LabVIEW RT operates well, I can see 8 processors on the secreen. No problem. The problem occurs when I plug GE 5565. PXI automatically enters BIOS and gives PCI Resource Error (photo is given). The problem presists even only GE 5565 card is plugged while removing all other ones.

What I have done so far;

- In BIOS menu, Advanced > PCI configuration

-- 64 bit memory mapped IO (Enabled - Disabled)

-- PCIe Max Payload Size (128 Bytes - Auto)

I have tried the four options which are composed of the combinations of the available options in PCI Configuration menu. Any ideas?

Sincerely...

Helo everyone,

I need to measure three separate bridges with measuring tape resistance of 100 ohm, connected with a relay multiplexer within the system, 1 Hz.

Can you suggest me which components do I use to configure the system. I'm not exactly sure what to use.

Thank you.

Hello there, how can I use to synchronize transmission with PXI 5441 using FGEN and reception with PXI 5670 (DownConverter 5610 and Digitizer 5142) using RFSA?

I need a finite digital modulated signal to be received in the RFSA exacly at the time it was transmitted at the FGEN. I was trying global variables but it seems to be to slow. Any ideas or suggestions will be grateful.

I've just ordered a PXI system from NI and want to start programming while I await delivery. I thought I could create virtual PXIe devices to do this, but I may be mistaken in my understanding of the MAX program.  While I've used LabVIEW for almost a decade, I've never needed to use "Measurement & Automation Explorer".

When I selected "create new" under "devices and interface" "Simulated NI-DAQmx...", I couldn't find the PXIe-1082 chassis or the core module(PXIe-8840) that I'll be using.  Am I going about this all wrong?

Thank you for your help,

Mesure rms avec PXI 5152

Bonjour

Streaming data using two or more frequency bands in RFSG PXIe-5646R

Hello,

I am a newbie in Labview. I am trying to implement frequency division multiplexing in Labview. Recently I tried to use two band to transmit text file then I found error in niRFSG Write ARB Waveform about FIFO session while trying to run the VI. I am using Labview 2014 and PXIe 5646R. Could you please tell me if VST can be used to transmit/receive using two frequency bands at the same time? Is it possible for me to implement this FDM using PXIe 5646R? Any answer would be very helpful for me. Thank you in advance.

PXI-4492

I'm trying to create a synchronous signal between 2 parts of the NI PXI-1082, the first location is the digitizer and the second is PXIe-4492.

I send a signal using the digitizer and receive it from the other end, and I collect a vibrational signal from PXIe-4492 and read it on the display.

Is this type of synchronicity possible? If not, can I use PXIe-4492 as both an input to the data acquisition and an output from the data acquisition?

Remote PXI missing cards in MAX

We have a PXIe-1062 fitted with a PXIe-8135 plus the following cards:

PXI-6509

PXI-7953R

PXI-8430/2

PXI-8430/2

The system is configured as a RT system and is connected to a test set via Ethernet. Therefore is be accessed remotely via LabVIEW 2012 code.

There are two sets of the above configuration. On our one if I open up NI MAX and then select "Remote System", then the system, then "Devices and Interfaces" all the above hardware is listed as expected.

On the other identical system if I open up NI MAX and then select "Remote System", then the system, then "Devices and Interfaces" the PXIe-8135 PCI-GPIB and the NI PXI-7953R are missing!

The system with missing cards in MAX is acting strangely. The software is a made up of combination of TestStand and LabVIEW on the test set. All the hardware in the remote system successfully initialises (no errors reported, even from the "missing" items). Some of the software components work perfectly, i.e. self-test, while other software components are failing (when talking to GPIB devices on the remote system). Note all the component software calls the same VI's on the Remote System. Also this was working fine on the other "customer" set up until recently, and still work fine (same software and RT deployment) on our system.

Are the missing items evidence that the PXI chassis, controller is on the way out?

Any ideas?

PXI-PCIe8361 Installation on Red Hat Enterprise Linux v7.1 with kernel-rt-3.10

Aloha!

I'm new to the NI PXI PCIe 8361 installation for Red Hat Enterprise Linux v6.6 and v7.1.  I'm using an ASL Lancelot 2879SR server, which I believe has PCIe Gen3 slots.  I've installed the NI 8361 plus the NI software which is called NIRIO140.  Everything seemed to install, and I can detect the 8361 via the biosdecode+lshw commands.  So it looks like things could be right, but I'm wondering how I can really test the installation.  I don't have anything connected to the board right now, waiting for a EE to help set that part up, and to be honest, I don't really do this kind of work or know what the purpose of this setup is (yet).

I'm also interested in knowing whether this board, which I think is at PCIe v1.0a is compatible with the RHELv6.6/kernel-rt-2.6 and/or RHELv7.1/kernel-rt-3.10 and Lancelot 2879SR PCIe Gen3 hardware.   kernel-rt is the MRG Realtime packages, RHAT sells just v3.10 now, they've EOL'd 2.6.  But one can still get CERN's rebuild of 2.6 for RHELv6.6.  I'm not sure if the 8163 will run in kernel-rt-3.10, it's not one of the listed OS's on the brochure I found.  so maybe I have to upgrade firmware?

anyway, just wondering if anyone has experience with this combination.

Mahalo!

I am currently trying to get PXIe 1073 to work on my Lenovo W540 laptop. Out of the box, the laptop doesn't seem to work well with the 8630 card with Code31 error. I then installed the compatibility software and that did not eliminate the erro and the event view is giving me an Event ID 12320 sating: PCI Host Bridge: No PCI bus numbers available,  status = -313564
