NI PXIe-5122 will disabling one of the channels channel allow for more on board samples on the active channel.

I know there is a fixed on board memory size for each 5122, meaning dividing that number by 2 will be the available storage for each channel.  Will disabling one of the channels free up that memory for the other?  If not, what is the purpose of disabling/enabling channels?  Thanks

External card reader

I have a NI ExpressCard-8360 for an older piece of equipment. Unfortunately we no longer have the laptop that used to be associated with this instrument. We also don't have a new laptop that has the appropriate card reader. Are there external card readers that we can purchase that could be used with a laptop?

Device driver for PXI-5142

Hi,

I have a problem with my PXI-5142 device driver. Windows Device manager can't find the correct driver for this card.

I can find the 5600 and PXI-5105 card. Also works in NI MAX.

I first had a problem with windows not recognizing the card as PXI-5142, but rather as an PCI Device. Therfor i could not link is the digitizer for the 5600. So i uninstallet the driver in device manager. No i can't find the correct driver for this card.

Does anyone know what driver i need? I have tried the NI System driver set from aug16-1.

Hi all,
We have the project from other company in the customer installations. They have 2 siemens ET200S through profinet connected with a PC labview application and OPC server.

The question is if we can connect more than one aplication to the same opc server .and if we could edit their server or if we should create a new one with all.The target woud be run the other app and our app both reading from the opc server

Sorry if the cuestion have not sense but i'm not sure if we can do it and i dont have now the tools to prove it.

Thanks all

Warranty Check/lookup

I have been tasked with determining the age of 1000s of computers, during our last audit, we located 2 computers from NI. I believe that there may be more. As such, since I didn't find a computer warranty lookup page on your website, I'm looking for the link to your computer Warranty lookup website or API, which will allow me to determine when the warranty started, how long the warranty is for each computer and what is included with the warranty.

Or a method to decode the Manufactured date from the serial number of the computer. The only SN that I have is from the baseboard, which was collected by SCCM.

Where should I write if a found a potential error in the documentation of a NI product?

PXIe-1085 Remote Power ON/OFF

Hello,

I plan to mount a PXIe-1085 chassis equipped with a PXIe-8840 controller (LabView RT OS) into a cabinet. As the white ON/OFF button will not be very accessible I wanted to make it accessible remotely.
I saw that an Inhibit Switch Mode exists: but once tested, I noticed a diffrence that may be harmful for the Controller mainly during the power OFF sequence:

- When the "standard" white button is pressed, the Controller takes few seconds to switch OFF

- When I strap Pin1 & 8 on the Remote Inhibit connector (While on Manual Position), the chassis is immediatley switched OFF, without properly shutting down

=> Is this really harmful or the controller/chassis ?

=> Is there another way to switch it OFF

PXIe-6738 and SCB-68a Compatability

Hi,

We're currently using the PXIe-6738 hooked up to a PXIe-1078 Chassis. The 6738 Card is connected to an SCB-68a DAQ Device. As far as I know, the 6738 supports 32 AO Channels but the SCB-68a only has 2 AO channels. Is there any way that we could utilize the other AO channels from the PXIe-6738 or is the SCB-68a not the best choice to use with it.

Trigger and Offset problems with PXI-5124 (12bit ADC)

Hello,

I have been working with the 12bit ADC, NI PXI-5124, for a few days and I found some problem that I do not see in the datasheet. I want to record the waveform from 0-4V so I set the Vertical Range =4V, and the Vertical Offset=2V.

1. The trigger value that I set is different from the actual trigger executed in the ADC. For example, when I set the trigger is 0.05V, I found out by using the generator is that the actual trigger is 0.1V. For every trigger value that I inputed, the actual trigger = input trigger + 0.05V. Why it is happening like that?

2. When I set the trigger is 0 the actual trigger is 0.05V. The signal high that I received from the ADC is different from the signal high of the generator when the signal high from the generator is smaller than 0.1V. For example, when the generator provide the signal high is 0.06V the signal high that I received from the ADC is around 0.07V. Why there is a mismatch between the signal high of the ADC and the generator when the signal high under 0.1V? (4V Range, 2V Offset)

I would be very grateful if someone give me some advise.

PXI 4472 Phase Characterization

We need to characterize the phase change (10 to 20KHz) that the 4472 introduces. What technique would I use to do this? Is there a method to loopback the input signal so that we can look at both the input/output on a scope?

NI 5741 Absolute Accuracy

I've been looking at a lot of PXI and C Series accuracy specs, which usually give either an absolute figure at full range or a percentage gain/offset.

The specs for the 5741 (http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/373937b.pdf) are written very differently, and include other components (like DNL) that don't appear in the other specs I have seen.  How can I calculate the absolute accuracy at full scale?

pxi 5122 sample resolution vs bit width

So I know that if you set your sample bit width to 16-bit you get an actual resolution of 14 bits meaning 2 bits are not used.  My question is which bits these are in the context of the entire memory space of the sample.  In other words, are the 2 unused bits MSB or LSB?

Logging using RT-FIFO - inconsistency and zeros logging

$

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to make a data acquisition and logging application for a PXI-8133 with PXI-4300 analog voltage input module. After testing different templates, I came up with two loops, a deterministic acquisition, and a low-priority one for logging, communicating using shared variable with RT FIFO enabled.
I need to be able to start and stop logging while VI is running, without interrupting the acquisition and signal plotting.

VI attached is working well for sampling frequency of 1kHz and number of samples of 1000. When I change some of these values, it logs zeros sequences in the output file as if the buffer had been filled without the correct signal. How can I have a VI that accepts different sampling frequencies?

I would like to have a overall feedback on this VI. Is this the best practice or there is better one keeping it simple?

Thanks

Can't Find Driver for Item NIC77C3 After Upgrading

Have a new copy of a PXI-8840 system that was built that I'm trying to get up and running on Windows 10. I had three NI devices that show up with yellow exclamation points in Device Manager. Two were the Watchdog Timer and Trigger Router for the controller. I found the drivers for those and installed successfully. But I still have a device that's listed as "NIC77C3" in Device Manager, and can't find a driver for it. Not even sure what the device is.

PXIe to PCIe Carrier Board Development

$

Hi Everyone

I am designing PXIe to USB hub carrier board.
And for prototyping purposes, I am using COTS PCIe to USB card.
I have made a simple PXIe to a PCIe carrier board and connected RX and Tx lines and RefClks respectively (x1).

I haven't connected any SMBus, Wake#, Reset or any other signals.

I am using a PXIe 8135 controller with PXIe-1082 chassis to test the carrier board.
After inserting the card is not detected by the OS. What am I doing wrong?
Is there any signal level differences between  PXIe and PCIe line signal levels?

In the file "NI 78xxR Pinout Labels for the SCB-68 Note to Users.pdf".

www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/377335a.pdf

Figure 1 shoud be "RMIO Connector for NI PXIe-7867R/7868R",
but it's a "RDIO Connector for NI 781xR/783xR/7841R/7842R/7851R/7852R/7853R/7854R", same as figure 4.

Figure 3 shoud be "RMIO Connector for NI 781xR/783xR/784xR/785xR",
but it's a "RMIO Connector for NI PXIe-7867R/7868R".

So, the figure for "RMIO Connector for NI 781xR/783xR/784xR/785xR" is missing.

Hello,

In my project, i change old SXCI with PXI-1084 and MXI-8361 card for my pc. With another card for my acquisition.

My application recover one task configured in MAX.

I would like to know if it's possible to acquire on ONE task, many channels of differents slot. Or i do one task by slot card ?

Because i haven't the hardware and the simulated devices don't working for PXI.

Thanks

PXIe-5413 does not appear in VISA Options List of resources in NI MAX

My PXIe-5413 does not appear in the list of resources on the VISA Options tab of NI-VSA software in NI MAX.

I have a PXIe-5413 function generator installed in a hybrid slot of a PXIe-1075 chassis connected to a Windows 7 PC. The PXIe-5413 appears under NI MAX’s Devices and Interfaces. I am able to communicate with the PXIe-5413 through the soft front panel and through NI FGEN sample code. The PXIe-5413 appears under NI MAX’s Devices and Interfaces with the LabVEW-FPGA icon which is a known issue. When I click on the name of the PXIe-5413 under Devices and Interfaces, in the Settings area it states that the PCI Device is 0. When I navigate to the Software > NI-VISA 16.0 branch of NI MAX, click on the VISA Options tab and look under Aliases, I do not see the PXIe-5413 listed under resources. Refreshing the list does not help. Originally, when I had version 16.01 of NI FGEN installed (webpage says that it supports the PXI-5413 but the read me section does not list it) the device did appear on the VISA Options tab. I’ve also tried installing NI FGEN 17.5 and then 18.5, NI MAX 17.5 and then 18.5.  but the behavior is the same. I’ve manually added an alias with the bus and device number from the Settings tab but when I right click on that entry and select ‘Go To Resource’ it cannot find the PXIe-5413.

The ATE I am working on will use the NI-FGEN commands but I also need to be able to assign an alias to the instrument and create a VISA session. I assumed that the IO layer of the IVI compliant NI-FGEN driver is VISA compliant.
