To whom it may concern,

I am trying to find out if NI still makes this part: NI PXIe-8135 Core i7-3610QE
FFP
With Removable hard drive No OS or HD
P/N: 782555-00 (Do Not Substitute)

If so, can I speak to someone to get a quote for this items and more?

PXI-6513 for solenoid control

Hello,

I have a gas solenoid valve (operation 24V, 500mA) that I want to drive at a variety of frequencies and duty cycles, i.e. 0-20 Hz and 50-80% duty cycle.  I have a PXI chassis that I would like to use to operate the valve.  Would the PXI-6513 digital module be a suitable card to perform this task.  Can this card perform PWM digital output, it is not very clear.

Would I need to take any steps to protect the PXI platform.

Thank you,

Sam

PXIe-1075 chassis powers off spontaneously

I have currently use multiple PXIe-1073 chassis and PCIe-8360 MXI adapters throughout my lab.  I recently added a PXIe-1075 chassis with PXIe-8370 remote controller to allow use of additional PXIe payload cards.

I tried two different brand PCs (each running Win10 x64) and two different MXI host adapters (PCIe-8371, PCIe-8372) within each PC. I followed the instructions within the NI documentation precisely, and even installed the NI MXI-Express BIOS Compatibility software on both PCs in an effort to establish communications with the remote adapter (PXIe-8370) and chassis (PXIe-1075).

First the chassis was powered, then the PC was booted. Initially, the PCIe-8371 adapter links to the PXIe-8370 controller - numerous LEDs on the remote adapter are illuminated indicating successful connection. Shortly after Windows finishes booting, the chassis powers off and the PWR led on the 8370 flashes continuously. All other LEDs on the 8370 turn off. The chassis is not visible in NI MAX. It is not a typical failure, but it seems either the power supply in the chassis is marginal or the 8370 is defective. I don't have enough equipment to refine this diagnosis.

I would appreciate any speculation on the cause as well as possible solutions to this failure.

PXIe-1075 Power Switch Blinking Green, can't find cause

One of our PXIe-1075 boxes has a green blinking power switch.  Ordinarily, this would be interpreted as some kind over temperature. However, we can't find anything that seems to be over heated.  The unit runs fine. All the blocks are in place to help air flow, and we have the fans running all the time.  I tried searching these forums for something similar, but can't find anything.  Any suggestions on things to check?

Thanks in advance.

Question about using a NIDCPower HW-timed sequence with SMU (PXIe-4141)

Hello,

I'm just getting familiar with HW-timed sequences using NIDCPower to take measurements on a PXIe-4141 in order to avoid the overhead of using SW loops.

From what I understand, I need to do the following steps:

  1. Set the sequence using the NIDCPower Set Sequence VI
  2. Start the sequence using the NIDCPower Initiate VI
  3. Wait for the SMU Sequence Engine to be done using the NIDCPower Wait For Event VI (event = Sequence Engine Done Event)

However, I would like to stop the HW sequence when a measurement threshold value has been reached (before the end of the sequence). Is it possible to create a trigger event that would stop the HW-sequence based on the measurement output? I know this can be done in SW by breaking out of a for loop, but I want to take advantage of HW-timed sequence approach.

Thank you in advance.

DAQMX Task change position of channel to enable/disable position without distrupt other channels

Hello, I'm trying to use PXIe-6738 device. During last 2 days, i'm trying to find a way to change position of channel to enable/disable position without distrupt other channels. Stopping a task makes signal interrupt and i can't do that. Should i use relay for this?

5V voltage output for external curcuits not usable on NI 7841R

Hi everyone,

i am using a PXI station with a 7841R FPGA and i am using the 5V with 250mA to power an external circuit. It worked good for over half a year but now SHC68M-68F-RMIO cable it was connected to had a short curcuit within. This broke the fuse on the FPGA. After i changed to fuse, the output voltage was back without load, but if i connect a 100Ohm resistor to it, the voltage reduces to 0V.

The next strange thing i noticed is, that not all DGND pins seem to be connected. When i measure the resistance between them, most show 0.1Ohm, but some show ~10 to 1MOhm. This was already present before the source voltage broke down.

Does this mean my PXI chassis and/or my FPGA are broken? Both are still fully operational, except for the voltage output and i need to connect my ground connections to the right pins, because some are not connected to ground although the user manual says so.

I have cross checked two chassis and two FPGA cards, all results are the same. Strange DGND behaviour and no +5V with connected load. Both cards were connected to the broken SHC68M-68F-RMIO cable before i realised it is faulty.

Are there any methods to check if the fault is with the chassis or with the FPGA?

Best regards,

Johannes S.

hello all,

I have used PXI4461 on PXIe1078 chassis and found error in MAX, the PC OS is Win10 64bits installed PCIe8361 communicated with PXIe8360.

the symptom and NI SW installed in attached files

have tried these before.

- Remove NI software and reinstall ==> result is same

- reset NI DB ==> result is same

- Reset OS (PC windows) ==> result is same.

Any guidance would be appreciated

PXI-6733 equivalent replacement for mature hardware

Since the PXI-6733 has reached "Mature" life cycle we would like to know what is the recommended replacement card.  We are currently using the card with a BNC-2110.  What are options for equivalent "Active" hardware that will give us the same functionality with a BNC interface?

IRIG-B AM incorrect Year

Hi,

We have an issue with an PXi 6683H returning the wrong year. This is because the IRIG-B reference that I will be accessing is returning status information in bits 50-58 of the IRIG-B packet (see: link ). The driver for the 6683 will substitute the system year if this field is zero (I have checked this and it works fine). I may be able to update the format source of my IRIG-B but it will be hard to gaurantee this across a range of installations. I would like to persuade the driver just to ignore the year regardless and use the year from the system. Is there registry setting to do this?

multiple test units sychronize by PXISYS.ini

$

We have 2 & soon multiple test unit systems. Each  test unit has a single NI PXI controller/cage.  We will lay in our cards to dedicated slots in the PXI controller.  On one unit I modified the existing PXISys,ini for SLOT 4 ( both places ) to mirror the assignment on the other PXI controller.   As in specifically  slot 4 was pcibus 212 and pciDevice num 13 and replaced these values with 16 and 15 respectively.  In that way one PXISys.ini could be replicated to all test units.

However I was unable or don't understand how to edit the PXIsys.ini to make it mimic the other test unit.  The only way I can see is to use MI MAX to assign an alias to use for each test unit or  dynamically find and read the pci bus and device numbers at each unit.  I did this bring alias method to the team but they wanted to use PCIbus and PCIDevice in the initialization string.   Do we edit the PXIsys.INI and if so how ?? or is it a choice between assigning an alias or reading dynamically the PXISys.ini file. ( If there are C# functions someone has written I would be happy to leverage rather than reinvent the wheel   )   Thanks !

Hello there,

I have an NI PXIe-1062Q chassis with an NI PXIe-8108 controller.

When I power up the system, the network is initialized, NI Scan engine gets initialized and it ends at "NI-VISA Server 5.4 started successfully". However, it does not go beyond thisto take me to Windows.

I have attached the photo showing all details displayed on the monitor.

How can I troubleshoot this problem?

Thanks,

Hello All,

I have a quick question with regard to the PXI 6683 module. I need to know if for every chassi I have I will need to have a PXI card?

For example: if i have 3 PXI chassis will I need 3 PXI 6683 modules to sync their timing clocks?

PXI 5922 - Noise and offset in channel 1

$

Hi,

We are using PXI 5922 board with Tektronix current sensor TCPA-300.

Today it was found some negative offset about -1.2V in channel 1 (Ch0 was fine) when inputs were disconnected. Moreover, CH1 became much noisy (~ 4 times) then CH0. Self calibration did not fix this issue. Some time after calibration the offset turns to positive +1.2V value. For diagnostic the Software front panel has been used, and only three first voltage ranges were working fine (1.2, 1.0, 0.5V/div), demonstrating offset mentioned above, but other finer ranges caused error 200005 (ADC overload).

It looks like some potential leakage to this channel take place, because short circuit of the input BNC reduces offset significantly, but does not affect the noise.

Is it possible to fix it?

Thank you!

Programming using QT for NI PXI controller running NI Linux Realtime

$

Hello,

I have experience in programming PXI realtime systems using both LabVIEW and LabWindows CVI.

Since NI is in process of moving to NI Linux Realtime from ETS Pharlaps, I was looking for the possible list of development environments that we could use. Apart from LabVIEW, i came across some C/C++ based development tools for NI Linux targets. I could find only the eclipse IDE for this purpose. I was wondering if it would be possible to use Qt creator IDE to develop the real time application and then use some sort of a cross compiler before deploying to the target device.

Any help would be appreciated.
