I have following tools from NI: NI PXIe-1073 and PXIe-4154. Before I was using it as battery simulator to power development boards with power supplied from PXIe-4154.

However, now I would like to drain lithium battery with a certain drain patterns to see the effect on it's battery life. I would like to simulate the load of potential device that the battery will power.

How can I drain actual battery (for example from smartphone) using my battery simulator? Is it possible?

Error -1074126843 occurred at niFgen Create Waveform (DBL).vi

Possible reason(s):
The waveform length is invalid.

Channel : No Waveform Data.

I am a freshman and I am learning to create waveform from text to the AWG recently. It is ok when I just run the part of Attachment1 Vi. However, it happens the above Error when I try to put this small part into the Attachment2 Vi. In this case, the PXI-5451 AWG in remote system is used. I am confused about this error.

Thank you for any replies about this question.

Hi,

I have couple of questiobns about NI PXI 6251 in PXI-1045(with pxi-8360 Mxi-express controller).

First it works with some huge delays when Daq_mx_stop is called or even the vi is stopped by RED button

Second The reference trigger is not working for me...

When the simple start trigger is set anf APFI0 is used everythzing works fine (except previously described lond delay)

But if I set reference trigger it do not react on the triger pulse.

thanks in advance

PXI-4110 control cascade output channels with one channel

I plan on using a PXI-4110 in an application as a +12-30VDC voltage source and as a current source.  My question is when I cascade output channels 1 & 2 in series to allow for a 12-30VDC voltage source is there a setting(s) in NI MAX, LabVIEW, or TestStand that allows me to control the voltage using a single channel?  I'd like to avoid having to set CH1 to +12VDC and CH2 to -12VDC if possible.  A coworker of mine mentioned there is an NI MAX setting(s) that needs to be configured and then I can pass the voltage setting (i.e. 30VDC) to a single channel using our packed library.  I will investigate this more tomorrow with people who may have already done this at my workplace, but I figured I'd ask here too.

Thanks,

Kyle

pxi6259 channel distribution

Hello,

    I would like to know the Clock source channels distribution formula, can be used in the C program.

In my application, I have 2 variables  ,   one is channel type like PFI, PXI_trigger etc, and second variable is line number in that group.

But i saw the channel distrubution seems very hafezard.   In my application i can't put formula with string length not more then 36 character.

The source distribution for PXI 6259 as below

(1) Internal

INTERNALTIMING = 0

(2) PFI
PFI0 = 1
PFI1 = 2
PFI2 = 3
PFI3 = 4
PFI4 = 5
PFI5 = 6
PFI6 = 7
PFI7 = 8
PFI8 = 9
PFI9 = 10

PFI10 = 21
PFI11 = 22
PFI12 = 23
PFI13 = 24
PFI14 = 25
PFI15 = 26

(3) PXI_Trigger lines
RTSI0/PXI_Trig0 = 11
RTSI1/PXI_Trig1 = 12
RTSI2/PXI_Trig2 = 13
RTSI3/PXI_Trig3 = 14
RTSI4/PXI_Trig4 = 15
RTSI5/PXI_Trig5 = 16
RTSI6/PXI_Trig6 = 17

RTSI7/PXI_Trig7 = 27

(4)  GPCROUT

G0_OUT = 19

(5) STAR Trigger

STAR_TRIGGER = 20

(6) Analog Trigger

ATRIG = 30

(7) Logic Low

LOW = 31

I have a formula

With varial Type =A and Channel no = B

I am assigning A = 0 for Internal , A=1 for PFI, A=11 for PXI ,  A=19 for GPCROUT, A=20 for STAR Trigger, A=30 for Analog Trigger and A=31 Logic Low

(A!=1&&A!=11)?A:smileysad:A==1?(B<10?A+B:B+11):smileysad:A==1&&B<7?A+B:27))

But the string size of above formula is become more then 36 character which is not allow in my applicaiton.

Any one can suggest me how i can put above trigger lines with 2 variables, like above formula but strign lenght should not more than 36 character?

Thank you

Trigger damage

Multiple help files and web locations mention that damage may occur to a PXI trigger bus if multiple drivers attempt to drive a single trigger (EX: PXI_Trig0) line.  Some go farther to mention that this applies to third party devices in particular.

I have 2 PXIe-7966R boards, a pair of PXI-6281's, and a 6514 in a PXIe-1082 chassis.

  • If DAQmx attempts to drive a trigger that an FPGA is attempting to drive, will it actually damage anything?
  • If both FPGAs attempt to drive the same trigger, will that cause any damage?

I guess I'm asking this:  Are NI devices protected from multiple drivers by design?

I ask just in case my trigger selection logic doesn't work (During development).  The last thing I would want to see if a 7966R get damaged!

Thanks,

s = daq.createSession('ni'); % start session
addAnalogInputChannel(s,'PXI1Slot3', 'ai0', 'Voltage'); % Input channel select
addAnalogInputChannel(s,'PXI1Slot3', 'ai1', 'Voltage'); % Ouput channel select
% s.Rate = 8000 %sample rate Hz

%% Aquire the data
s.DurationInSeconds = 2; % record for defined number of seconds
[data,time] = s.startForeground(); % aquire the data

%% Plot the data
plot(time,data);
xlabel('Time (secs)');
ylabel('Voltage')

 When I run the code in Matlab I get the following error message:

Error using data_aqusition (line 12)
NI Error -89136:

Status Code: -89136

 Can someone please tell me why this happens? I cant see any mistake in my code.

Cheers,
James

PXIe-4353 analog edge trigger

Hello,

I'd be grateful for some help with my case. I'm building a VI for acquisition of multiple signals from thermocouples. My hardware is NI PXIe-1073 chassis with PXIe-4353 module to read the signals.

The problem is that I want to use an Analog Edge trigger for the start of the measurement but it is unavialable to choose in the DAQ Assistant properties window (I have only None and Digital Edge to choose form). I also tried to do the same with DAQmx functions but I got the Error which says that I can only choose Digital Edge Trigger or None.

The hardware (PXIe-4353) does seem to support Analog Triggering: http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370471W-01/cdaqmxsupp/pxie-4353/ or am I mistaken ?

Also I want to note that I currently use hardware simulation and not the actual hardware - can this be the reason?

I'm new to Labview so I may have made some silly mistake. Please let me know then

What hardware is required for putting two 4113 channels in parallel?

$

I am looking to parallel the two channels of the PXIe-4113 to get more current capability. According the "NI PXIe-4113 Combining Multiple Outputs" found here

NI does not recommend operating multiple channels of the NI PXIe-4113 in parallel to generate larger currents without using additional external circuitry. The output topology of the NI PXIe-4113 can sink current, which leads to static current flow between channels as a result of small offsets in the voltage output levels of each channel. Contact NI technical support at ni.com/support for more information about restrictions for operating channels in parallel on the NI PXIe-4113.

I am thinking this is probably a couple of diodes, but I was looking for more specific recommendations as alluded to by the above statement. What are your recommendations?

Thanks.

Continuous streaming to PXI6552

$

I have to produce a serial 8Mbps stream over a single channel of a digital I/O (PXI6552, 8Mbits per channel). I used the example “Continuous Generation - Stream Form Memory.vi” as a starting point. I set the maximum size for the waveform, i.e. 8M. Everything works fine for clock rates up to 4M. Problem that appears for the higher rates is the following:

The data being written to the streaming waveform cannot keep up with the output.<LF/>Decrease the sample rate or write data to the streaming waveform more frequently.

First, I tried to change fixed block size with no success. Then, I tried to increase the block size depending on Space Available In Streaming Waveform, as in the modified example I attached, but the problem is only delayed for a while. What am I doing wrong?

Streaming Data between Smart Camera and FPGA?

$

Is there a way I can stream data between a smart camera (NI 1774) and a FlexRIO FPGA module (PXIe-7961R)? I understand that data from the smart camera can only come from a USB or an Ethernet connection, I intend to plug the camera to the PXI controller (PXIe-8135), the chassis I'm using is PXIe-1082 so the p2p data transfer at 8GB/s should be possible between the controller and the FPGA module.

As a note: The processing I'm trying to do is too computationally intensive so its not possible to do it on the smart camera itself.

I am currently creating a testing enviornment for a NAND Flash product and was wondering if anyone else had done this, what PXI hardware you used, or what suggestions you might have? I will need to read/write all blocks and test several Flash chips during the test. I was thinking of toggling between the Flash chips by enabling one after another.

Hello,

I have a problem with my chassi PXI 1045. The configuration is the following:

PC --> PCIE-8361 --> PXI-836 --> PXI-1045

I am going on MAX software, right click on "chassis (unidentified)", identified as, and PXI-1-45. Then I have the following error message:

"Error 0XFFFB388E - This chassis has been identified but is not described in the pxi(e)sys.ini for this system.  An error occurred enumerating the chassis."

I made a research on this error and I found this page: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/5485414DD262AD75862578B000793445

I don't have Labview Real time, but my PXI platform services is the version 14.0. I think that is not my problem.

Do you have an idea, or do you have the chassis.ini file associated to the PXI chassis? Maybe it can solve my problem?
