Number of USB Ports on Controller
I am trying to select a controller for a RT system roll out. We will be using USB cDAQ chassis for higher channel densities (30-120 channels). My program does not need much computer power, so processor/memory wise a lower budget controller will work. I may need more than two USB cDAQ chassis however. Is a 4-6 port PXI controller USB bus going to be any better than a 2 port with an external hub for my application?
Should I be considering USB 3.0 for future cDAQ USB chassis? Will I see a performance improvement on current cDAQ USB chassis with USB 3.0 over USB 2.0?
Thank you.
[FlexRIO] Is it possible to define two IO modules for my FlexRIO
Hi All,
I'm developing an application to perform a scan test on a digital ASIC and have a number of PXI chassis' each with a FlexRIO installed. I have two flavours of FAM the NI6581 DIO & the NI6583 DIO. I want to write the LV FPGA code so that the application could use either FAM depending on which one is fitted to the FlexRIO. Is it possible to define the two IO FAMS in the LV FPGA project and in the code detect which FAM is fitted and from there select which IO to use?
Thanks,
Nick
nilsdev on Linux returns no devices after a time - how can cards be 're-scanned'
On Linux, after installing NIDaqMX and NIDMM drivers, nilsdev reports a number of cards in a PXI chassis. (6509 Digio, 4070 DMM, 2503 Mux)
After some time, (we suspect some sort of a power interruption), nilsdev reports NO devices.
Is there a way to force the NI Drivers to "re-scan" the PXI bus to re-build the cache of devices it has ?
Uninstalling and re-installing the software seems to 'find' the devices again, but that is not a desirable solution.
PXI-8108 vs LabVIEW RT
Hello,
I'm looking for a compatibility table, that would give to me, for each PXI-CPU the list of LVRT release that are compatible.
Is anyone knows where to find it ?
From now I only want to know if PXI-8108 can runs LV-RT 2014, 2013 or 2012, but a complete table would be very interesting to manage obsolescence.
Thanks

2D FFT on FPGA
Has anyone done a continuous 2D FFT (of an image and/or series of images) on PXIe FPGA? The IMAQ FFT does not exist in the LabView FPGA pallet, neither does the 2D FFT function. It may potentially be possible to use a single channel multiple samples FFT function in the FPGA pallet to do a 2D FFT on images, has anyone tried that? If so how does it perform in terms of speed?
Pulsed Multitone Signal for RFSG
We tried combining the sample codes provided with NI LabVIEW 2013. We tried integrating the RFSG Pulsed Data VI and the RFSG Multitone - Uniform Spacing VI, and we seem to be producing noise.
We're currently using a single RFSG (NI PXIe-5673) and a single RFSA (NI PXIe-5663) in an 18-slot PXI chassis (PXIe-1075). Since we are pulsing the Multitone signal (in this example, a dual tone), the received signal is not we're expecting.
Attached in a zip file are the reults and the codes that we've used. The signal was transmitted using the Pulsed_Multitone VI and was received and analyzed using the RFSA IQ Graph VI. What are we doing wrong? Or is there a better way to do it?
APS Shaker and amplifier work with PXIe-1071
Recently we purchased a APS 113 shaker and APS 125 amplifier for our new research project. We want to use NI PXIe-1071 controller system to control the shaker via amplifier.
NI PXIe-1071 >>> APS 125 Amplifier >>> APS 113 Shaker
Aps asked us to use Spektra VCS 403 (Vibration Control System) for this case. When we tried to use this software, there is an "Open loop" error. But every things connected very well. Amplifier and shaker do not work.
Seller company does not have efficient technical information. Please let me know your soloutions, thanks.
(3) p2p devices - start sequencing
Is there any experience or guidance on startup timing / sequencing on 3 device peer to peer streaming. I'm using a PXIe-1073 chassis where I want to set up the following data flow:
RFSA -> FLEXRIO1 -> FLEXRIO2 -> Host Display.
The last link would of course be a DMA to the host, but the first (2) would be PXIe devices capable of P2P. I haven't been able to find anything on FPGA configuration timing relative to when to try and connect the P2P links (ie is there some needed wait time for the bit file load/FPGA startup sequence before trying to run the P2P create/enable stream VI's), and in which order (If any) is preferred to bring them up in (ie consumers first followed by producers, or vice versa). Couldn't find any NI documentation/examples relative to this scenario for guidance.
Any information is appreciated.
RT debug string also send string to COM port ?
Using PXI Real-Time Module with various controller ,
I notice that unlike old models tested, the PXI 8110RT seems to send debug string also to to serial COM Port (when usign RT debug string.vi) ?
Is there a trick or a solution to remove this auto redirection (hardware or software) ?
Error 1097 while deploying
Hi,
I am having a problem when deploying a model from Veristand (Windows) to a PXI equipment.
Let's start from the beggining: I have written a simulink model and compiled it for Veristand 2014 target. This generates a DLL, that I load it in Veristand at my Windows PC. From Veristand (Windows) I am able to run the model and the results are the same as Simulink. Now I want to run the model in the PXI (PXI-8176 with Phar Lap ETS 13.1). When I try to deploy the model to the PXI target, I've got the following error:

SATA Hard drive Flex
Hi, we have a Natrional Instruments PXI8105 controller. It has a cable with the name "SATA hard drive Flex" with the serial # ASSY193377A-01. It has broken and wondering if anyone knew where we could get a new one or source one with a part no.?
I'm having trouble with PFI signals and can't program to higher drive
Hi all,
I'm having trouble setting up my PFI<24..31> signals on my PXIe-6556. According to the specifications, I can drive these signals to +/-85mA. I have not been able to achieve that using the static PFI method using NI-HSDIO. I see the voltage dropout rather quickly. Using a 500 ohm resistor to ground on this signal, the voltage collapses from 3.3V to 3.0V with only approximately 6mA of current across resistor.
What am I doing wrong?
PXI 8512 CAN card does not show up in MAX on RT PXI System
I have NI-CAN 14.0 and NI-XNET 14.5 installed on my PXI RT system and the PXI-8512 can card does not show up in my PXI chassis. What am I missing? Please see the attached picture.
Trying to install 4 pxie-4300 in one chassis
I am trying to install four PXIe-4300 cards in one PXI chassis (PXIe-1085). No matter which slot I try to install the fourth card, the computer will not boot. Is there a limit to how many PXIe-4300 cards you can install on one chassis?
pxie 8108 does not boot with new hard disk
Hi
I'm currently using PXIe 8108 with PXIe-1062Q.
The previous hard disk was borken so I had to install a new hard disk.
The new hard disk is fommatted as NTFS format, and it is currently mounted on 8108.
Unfortunately I don't have recovery disk avaialble so I'm trying to install Windows 7 on empty hard disk.
When you boot, the PWK OK LED light is on all the time, DRIVE orange LED is on for few seconds only when I turn the switch on.
Labview RT switches are all off, I cleared CMOS many times from the board but, the screen shows nothing.
I have tried use my DVI monitor with other device as well, and it worked so there is no problem with the monitor.
In addition, I tried to go to window safe mode by pressing F8 or Del it didn't work, so I see nothing on the screen when its booted up.
I tried to put as much information I can it will be very appreciated if you can help me with this issue please.
PXI-6281 lowpass filter limitations
I purchased a PXI-6281 to act as an ADC for a 6 axis accelerometer I have. When I try to configure it as follows
- Differential mode
- 3 or more channels
- 10kHz sampling rate
- 40kHz Lowpass filter enabled
I get an error from DAQmx that the settling time violates the period between two conversions (Error 200038).
According to the datasheet, the settling time for multi-channel acquisitions with lowpass enabled is 50us. 10kHz is 100us. Why is this error happening then?
If I reduce the number of channels to 2 or less, it doesn't complain.
If this is a limit of the card, what spec would have clued me into this? I need 6 channels with lowpass and nothing I read seems to have indicated the 6281 wasn't up to the task..
Thanks,
XL600
What is the PXI-7854R Digital IO Type and is it User Setable.
Are the Digital Outputs on the 785x cards Line Driver, Open Collector, or Push-Pull Outputs?
Specifically the card I am working with is PXI-7854R.
Here is my basic question, but notice that the R-series cards are missing.
http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/C8C2A19E31A38A24862570280075C406?OpenDocument
Also, does the card have the capability to select which type of DIO is implemented?
Here is a write up I found doing this via DAQmx, which I of course don't use for this card.

Help me to use NI PXIe-6363
Hello to all.
I am using PXI for the first time.
I have a NI PXIe-1082 Chassis with a NI PXIe-8135 Embedded Controller and a NI PXIe-6363.
I don't know how to add an Input or Output channel.
I create a new project; I add PXIe 8135 in the project right clicking and select New, Target and device, Exiting Target and Device, and selecting NI 8135.
After this right click on the RT target and click connect.
Now have I to find my NI-6363 board under the RT Target? Yes Or NO?
I think I should find the board 6363 and a I/O Variable for all his Channels...am I wrong?
Please..Help me!
Thanks
