I am trying to export list of softwared installed on PXI chassis for archiving purposes via MAX. This way when i need to reinstall software on chassis i know exactly which drivers were used previously.

PXI-8360 termination

PXI-8360 compactPCI signals, can you tell me if the card contains series termination resistors for these signals on the card.  The CompactPCI spec calls out series termination resistors on the backplane.  We have a custom backplane that does include series termination resistor and wonder if I should add them currenly doing a redesign.  I do not want to dublicate the termination resistor.

Thanks

PXI-1033 not detected until pc is restarted

We have a NI PXI-1033 Chassis with a PXI-5114, PXI-4072, and PXI-6221, at fist it failed to recognize and install the drivers for the boards. Looking in the knowledge base, i tried the workaround by disabling de PCIe mode "bcdedit /set pciexpress forcedisable" command, and restarted the pc. Then the system recognized and installed the drivers for all the hardware.

Turned off the PXI system  at the end of the shift. The next day, after turning on the system, it didn't recognized the hardware, reverted the changes using "bcdedit /set pciexpress default", then restarted the pc. Again the hardware were recognized.

I tried changing the configuration on the PC BIOS, with no luck. The PC is an ACP-4000 from Advantech. We have to restart de PC after a cold start, so it could recognize the hardware and load the drivers.

Is this normal?

Dear all

I did a mistake in a design.

I'm working with Pxi-6534 board and i have to isolate one pin.

I would like to know if it is possible to fix only one pin to high impedance to isolate it.

This pin is the number 3 of connector 68pin  of Pxi-6534 board.

Name : ACK1 (STARTTRIGH1).

This pin is part of group1.

thank you for your answers,

I added a second PXIe-1073 chassis to my system, using a second PCIe8361 card. I am getting an error for the PXIe-5114 in the chassis. It is not seen in MAX and in device manager there is a yellow exclamation mark by the device. With only one chassis enabled, there are no problems. How do I resolve this problem?

Reading of a PXI 8184

During a project I am working on an autonomous vehicle.

This machine operates by a Vision system and is controlled by a PXI 8184

The different part are communication over a CAN-BUS.

Someone else designed this vehicle but there is no documentation and original Labview program

Is there a possibility to get the original Labview program out of the PXI?

And is it possible to get acces to the CAN-BUS?

Trying to get Datasocket working between Desktop PC (labview 2015) and RT PXI, but not having much luck.

Desktop 192.168.0.1

PXI  192.168.0.2

Got datasocket software installed on the PXI, and datasocket manager configure to allow all access for 192.168.0.2

Tried running both the write and read on my desktop, works well using localhost, but does NOT like when I enter an IP address instead of localhost.

Why does it not work when entering an IP address?

TB-2631/2631B required for 2530B 4x16 Matrix topology and why won't r1-r3 work?

$

Is TB-2631/2631B terminal block required on the 2530B module for the 4x16 matrix topology to work? Our current PXI configuration uses a Virginia Panel (VPC) interface with a custom VPC cable that brings all signals/lines from the 160 pin LFH connector on the 2530B to a VPC module on our interface.  Using the NI Max Test Panel for the 2530B we are only able to verify paths to the r0 port from any of the c0-c9 ports. It does not seem to work when we try to connect to any of the other rx port (r1-r3). Has anyone seen this issue when in the 4x16 matrix topology with or without the terminal block used? We are using NI-Switch driver 4.5, was there a known bug that may have been resolved with a later release?

Thank you

Cannot Install Software PXI 8880

We have recently purchased a new PXIe-1082 chassis with a PXIe-8880 controller. The controller came pre-installed with LV RT 2015. We had already begun doing our development in 2014 and did not want to upgrade to the 2015 version. Once we received the chassis and controller we formatted the controllers HDD in order to install 2014; however, we have not had any success.

I have formatted the controllers hard drive several times. I've tried formatting in FAT32 and Reliance. I have tried uisng the USB Boot Drive to first do the formatting and then repeating the formatting in MAX. Every format of the drive has resulted in MAX reporting the process to have completed successfully. When I select the controller in MAX it lists the controller's HDD space as 232GB of free space.

When we attempt to install LV RT 2014 to the controller (we have tried both doing a full RT install as well as removing any additonal files that could be removed without deselecting the RT 2014 core software) the installation begins and appears to work fine. After approximately 3-4 minutes the process will fail and an error is generated. The error says the remote target's HDD is either full or encountered an error.

I have spent quite awhile researching this problem, and everyone that mentions this error seems to have it fixed by formatting the drive to FAT32. We have tried to do this several times, all of which are reported successful by MAX, but we still get the same error message.

Can the PXIe-8880's not run 2014? Am I doing something wrong? Any suggestions would be helpful, as I feel like i'm only banging my head against a wall currently.

1085 chassis temperature LED solid Red under room condition and cannot start

The customer has a 1085 chassis and now the issue is :

The Temperature LED on the front panel of 1085 turns solid red and the controller cannot start up.  What's the reason maybe and how can I fix it?

BTW. The modules inserted in the 1085 are not NI's product, does this matter?

Hi guys,

I am looking for a device in my current research work which can control multiple USRPs, and sending signals to each of them

separaely. Can I do this with a PXI system? If this is possible, which components of the PXI system are needed for this?

Please help me out here guys, I am desperately in need of such a thing!

pxi6704 grounding issue

$

Hi,

I am using a pxi system PXIe1078 hosting a 16bit analog output card PXI6704.

The pxi6704 is connected to the SCB-68A connector via a sh68-68-D1 cable.

I use the analog outputs to drive high voltage power supplies. The high voltage power supplies are controlled by 0-5V input.

When I output 0V from the pxi6704 card, I observe the following:

- when measured between the analog output and the analog ground, the voltage output is exactly 0V

- however when measured between the analog output and the pxi chassis or cable grounding, the voltage is 4mV.

(note that these observations are made with nothing connected to the scb68A connector, I have checked that the same happens when the measures are made directly at the pins on the card itself)

So from what I can see, the voltage between the anlog output and the corresponding analog ground is exactly what I expect. However, this is not true anymore when comparing to the pxi chassis ground.

I am a bit surprised by this offset, since it is stated in the manual of the pxi6704 that: "Analog Output Grounds—Each ground pin is shared between one voltage and one current
channel. These pins are connected to the NI 6703/6704 device analog ground plane.
All NI 6703/6704 device ground planes connect to the computer system’s ground signal."

My high voltage power supplies have a common ground with the pxi chassis.

Since my 0-5V control convert to 0-5kV output, this 4mV offset causes my high voltages to be offset by 4V, which is not acceptable for my application.

Is this a know issue, and appart from using isolation amplifiers for each analog output (which I'd like to avoid), is there a way to fix it?

Thanks for any answers you may have.

Sincerely yours,

Sébastien Zamith

How do different clock settings affect the daqmx timing (sample clock).vi for counters

I am able to use counters on my pxi without using daqmx timing (sample clock).vi's (seen in DIOworking6.vi), however, when I try to use my PXI in a deterministic manner, outlined  in this link

http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370466Y-01/mxcncpts/controlappcase6/

I recieve the error -200714 (as seen in DIOworking8.vi) . How are the counters read, and affected by the daqmx timing.vi and how can I set up my counters to be read deterministically?

thanks,

View Backplane PXI Trigger Bus?

$

I'm working on a project where I need to route a data marker event from a PXI 5402 function generator to a PXI 2521 via te PXI trigger bus on the backplane. I'm having a bit of trouble coding it, and it's tough troubleshooting it as I can't tell where the event marker is/is not getting to. Is it possible to actually view the PXI trigger bus somehow? Can I wire it out so I can throw a scope on it?

Thanks!

4071 PERFORMANCE VERIFICATION 2 WIRE OMS TEST

$

Hello, we are running a performance verification on a PXI-4071 with CAL EXEC 3.4.1.

2 wire ohm test runs 3 extra steps at what it seems same range, same input, different tolerance, that are not defined in the performance verification manual, these 3 extra steps come up as failures but the software indicates overall test passed, is there a glitch in the software, why is the software ignoring these tests? I have attached a copy of the data collected.

Thank you for your help, regards.

Used PXI-1033

I feel like an alien but I need expert assistance. I purchased a measurement system from an engine rebuilder. It is made up of mostly NI components with Keyence sensors/amplifiers, and a Keling Stepper Motor with Danaher/Kollmorgen drive. It was put together in 2009/2010 and worked before the company shut down. I know the gear was very expensive new. Brokers pay nothing and while I know it is not worth what it was new it still has value. The controller is an NI 3100 with Windows XP. Can anyone here here help guide me to a place to sell this gear to someone that can use it?

Thanks.

Dividing FPGA labview

Hi  for all,

my problem look easy but its not real.

i want to introduce simple equation to my project which simply generate PWM signal with "PWM bridge pair" function. as this function need Ontime and Half_period  with format (I16) and (I32) i want to introduce simple function which convert frequency 32kHz to 625 ticks = Half_period(I32) since FPGA clock its 40MHz so i tried to introduce this equation

Hal_period (PWM pair bridge Block) = (40000 / F) / 2 in order to obtain F like input in kHz and not ticks as input.

i found in forum many solutions like :

http://www.ni.com/example/29021/en/

or this one also

http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Dividing-in-FPGA/m-p/189324/highlight/true#M109575

i download it  which in attached piece 2   but how to use it with my existing project.

i do like this my programme is attached in piece 1 with comments  but not fuction   :/.

thanks for all helps.

DMM 4071 uncertainty for AC voltage measurements

$

I've found some good resources describing how to calculate the uncertainty of the 4071:

http://forums.ni.com/t5/PXI/DMM-4071-accuracy-4-5-digits/td-p/1962633

http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/9FAB5BCA55D1E693862579F00076772D

Unfortunately none of them covers the uncertainty calculations for AC voltage measurements.

Anyone got a good resource?

So far I've got

  1. AC voltage accuracy, % of reading + % of range
  2. Temperature coefficient
  3. RMS noise, calculate aperture time and NPLC for my 5 1/2-digits resolution.
I need to add value from graph  (on page 3 of specification) since the specs are for 6 1/2-digits, right?
  4. NO rms noise multiplier for AC measurements
  5. Common mode errors - How do I calculate these?
  6. NO crest factor errors - The algorithm used in 4071 is insensitive to crest factor.

Am I doing this right?

Any pointers are welcome.
