PXI-4071 Volts DC ranges above 10V range, including Auto Range, are not working

I am an NI newby. About a month ago I inherited a test system with a NI PXI foundation and have been tasked with getting it into production. It is failing its Self Test. Thanks to the online info I have found I been able to get to the place where I have determined the PXI-4071 Volts DC ranges above 10V range, including Auto Range, are not working. Readings are fine in ranges below 100V.

This system had been in storage for a couple of years. So I was wondering if some loss of configuration/programming info could cause this? Or is this definitely a hardware failure?

Thanks,

How to setup PXI daqmx vi's for NI cards.

I have searched quite a few times for information on how to set up daqmx vi's for say, a PXIe-6535 or a pxi-4110 and have not been able to find much useful information. As such, I usually open a LabVIEW example (such as Voltage-Finite Output.vi or NI-DCPower Source DC Voltage.vi) and copy the structure of the initlailize, configure, initate, close and the rest of these vi's for my programs.

Is there documentation from NI that explains the general structure for setting up and using these vi's for your pxi cards? Or are you supposed to open an example that is relavent to your needs and copy the structure of it into your program?

I'd prefer to know what each one of these vi's do and why they have to be in a certain order. And how NI recommends to strucutre them.

Thanks in advance to all who answer...

PXI-6527 and PXI-6025E not recognized in MAX (RT-PXI)

These cards from an older system that ran Labview 7.1, now installed in a new RT PXI, but they don't show in NI-MAX.

Using Labview 2015 and NI-DAQmx 15.1, Windows 7-64bit

I've tried everything so far, just cant get them to show.

Can't install traditional DAQ, cause 64bit OS does not support it.

My guess is NI-DAQmx 15.1 does not support these cards ?

PXI-4070 not showing up in PXIe-1075 slots 16 & 17

Hello,

I have a PXIe-1075 using a PXIe-8370/PCIe-8371 remote controller,  4 PXIe-6363, 8 PXIe-2351, and 4 PXI-4070s. The PXI-4070s are required to be plugged into hybrid slots (2 - 5 or 15 - 18). To maximize throughput, the 4070s are plugged into slots 4 and 5 and the other 2 are plugged into slots 16 & 17 so that the DMM's are split to using 2 different PCI to PCI bridges. The issue I am seeing is that the 2 4070s plugged into slots 16 & 17 do not show up in NI MAX, and in device manager, show an error (see attached pics). I can see and use all other modules in the chassis including the other 2 4070s.

I have 3 other machines running in production with a nearly identical configuration, the only difference is that the other machines use a PCIe-8372(or maybe an old model of the PCIe-8371? The main difference is that the cards in the older machines have 2 ports but the model # isn't screened onto the cards so 8372 is a guess based on the setup booklets) host controller. The PC's are identical between all 4 machines: Advantech Industrial, WinXP sp3, Intel core 2 Quad, 2GB RAM.

If I remove the PCIe-8372 from one of the working machines and install it in the machine I'm having issues with, I can see and use all of the 4070s so we know that the PXI chassis and 4070s are fine. I have also tried all sorts of different driver versions and uninstalled/re-installed drivers many times as well as the possible solution provided in this post from 2011: http://forums.ni.com/t5/PXI/PXI-4070-DMM-in-PXIe-1075-Chassis-not-found/m-p/1609804/highlight/true#M9341

Wondering if anyone else has had issues similar to this?

PXIe 4330 configuration window

I have some questions about setting up the PXIe 4330 via the configuration tab that appears when using NI-MAX or Signal Express.

1)   The signal input range is editable to any value, although the user guide says that it's set automatically according to the excitation voltage.

2)  The Vex value and Bridge Resistance boxes also appear to be editable, whereas I'd expect drop-downs to reflect the discrete values allowable for these variables.

3)  Am I correct in thinking that the Bridge Resistance value is irrelevant if I'm not using a quarter-bridge setup?

4) For (1) and (2), what happens if I enter invalid values?

Synching and Triggering across multiple RT chassis with PXIe-6674T

Hi,

I'm struggling to untangle this but I start with the equipment and the requirement.

I have lots of PXIe-1085 chassis with 8135 RT controllers in them. They are packed with PXIe-5160 scope cards and each has a PXIe-6674T Timing card in it.

I want to set it up as a master/slave with the master setting the trigger for the slaves and synchronising the timings for the slaves too. Essentially a single triggered, synchronised hi-channel oscilloscope.

I'm getting a bit confused with the nomenclature of the various inputs/outputs and other options available to me here.

From what I can gather I want to output the OCXO from the 6674T and input it back into the master and slaves as the main clk. (I'm assuming this is source terminal Oscillator but am struggling to confirm it)

To do this I'm guessing I should take ClkIn and route it to PXI_Clk10_In (externally wired so that master and slaves all have the same lead length)

I have similar issues with the triggering, I have a nice reference trigger pulse output on PFI1 of the 6674T with the intention of using it on the slaves as my trigger input (on PFI0) which I then route on PXI_Trig0 along the backplane (this doesn't work)

For the individual chassis do I then use NI-TClk to route these lines along the entire 18 slot chassis? (I have 1 chassis working fine in this manner)

So state of play so far is that I have a nice 10Mhz signal on the ClkOut of the Master 6674T and a trigger pulse on PFI1, but the slaves are studiously ignoring me (I also suspect that the master is not using the OCXO clk but cannot confirm that)

Any help gratefully accepted, I've been at this a little while now

Love Steve

PXIe-8102 Out of Memory

Hello dear Forum members,

i've got the following problem:

In our application there is a point where an arbitrarily sized 2D-Array is created. If this Array is to big, the whole system crashes.

If I try to reconstruct the problem in the development environment the vi is just closing as soon as it reaches the critical point.

No error message is thrown, and the Initialize Array VI has no error terminal.

Is it somehow possible to "try/catch" this error, like in other programming languages?

I am aware that with some optimizing I could delay the problem to a probably much larger size of Arrays, but that would require some bigger architectural changes and learning to do, for which I unfortunately don't have much time now...

I'm running the VIs on a PXIe-8102 RealTime (PharLaps) System with 2GB RAM and DualCore Celeron.

I'm looking forward to your suggestions.

Kind regards,

Tobias

PXI-1044 Grounding

I am using a PXI-1044 chassis and logic ground is connected to chassis ground somewhere in the chassis.  Is it possible to disconnect these grounds from each other?  If so, how?

I am running into noise issues and having my logic ground tied to chassis ground is causing major issues.

Thanks, Aaron

Is PXI-5124 compatible with PXIe-1075?

Dear all,

I have a quick question. I currently have a PXIe-1075 chassis with some modules inside. For my project I need a data acquisition module. Now I have an unused PXI-1044 chassis with PXI-5124 digitizer module inside laying around which I would like to use.

My question is: Is the PXI-5124 compatible with the PXIe-1075 chassis?

I'm pretty sure that it should be compatible, but I could not find hard evidence on the net. Thanks in advance!

Kind Regards, Roelof

synchronization of a PXIe-5122 digitizer with a PXI-5402 function generator

Hi, I was using a PXIe-5122 digitizer to continuously acquire the received signals and a PXI-5402 function generator to continuously send pulse trains. These two cards are both installed in a PXIe-1073 chassis. The application I was trying to implement needs the digitizer synchronized with the function generator, so that I can calculate the relative time of flight of the signal from the transmitter to the receiver. Following describes the details of the application. First, function generator drives a transducer (through the AO of the PXI-5402) to generates a pulse train, and the signal propagates through some random media and after n milliseconds get received by a receiver and digitized by the PXIe-5122. My goal is to measure the time of flight of the signal I transmitted. Therefore, I must know exactly when the PXI-5402 generate the pulse train, and when the PXIe-5122 received the pulse train. This can be done if the two devices are synchronized. Then, the time of flight of the signal is simply the time delay in the received signal. Can some one let me know how I can synchronize these two devices with the same sampling clock and start trigger? Thanks, -Roger

Use Function Generator To Trigger Switch Open/Close Visual Basic Example?

The PXI architecture is all very new to me, so I hope you'll bear with me on a few basic questions.

I've got a PXI-5402 FGen and several PXI-2521 switch blocks in a PXI-1033 chassis. I'm using Visual Studio 2008 (w/Measurement Studio), and have the generator set up to generate single-shot pulses of various widths using a frequency list. What I'd like to do is use the output of the generator to feed a relay in one of the switches, so it will close for the specific duration of the generator's single shot (I understand the PXI-2531's worst-case open/close times are 3.3mS each, so I am not expecting millisecond precision).

I know the PXI chassis have an internal bus to handle this, with up to 8 different channels. But it's not clear to me how I access those in Visual Basic, and I seem to be having trouble finding any examples. Can anyone point me to an example in VS that shows how this is done?

open and run rt target project in windows

I created a project intended to be deployed on a RT target, but now I have a new PXI chassis that runs on Windows.  It's much easier to develop on Windows, but when I open the project none of my VIs are visible because I'm missing some plug-in.  I've downloaded a bunch of plug-ins, but since the error doesn't tell me which one I am missing I'm never certain if I downloaded the right one.  Either way I don't even wan the plug-in, I just want to run my project from Windows instead of RT.

hello everyone,

i'm using PXI-8105 controller , controlling this using VxWorks, for this i need to make a bootable hard disk.

--I had created bootable USB KEY succesfully , but now i want to make a bootable hard disk.

--Giving command in command prompt as-

--(mkbt -x bootsect.bin FSmiley Happy , than transfering bootrom.sys and vxworks image to the formated section, commands are showing that it becomes bootable but when i tried to boot the controller from hard disk then it show as --operating system missing.

If someone had tried this or know how to do this than please help me out.

thanks to all.

We have an PXIe-5450 on chassi 1062Q.  when we initialize the board, we got error -1074106671 (an internal error occured). Anyone know how to fix this error? we're really appreciated your help. By the way, we are using Labview 2010 and NI-FGEN 2.9

This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. Code 12

I have a Dell Latitude 5540 with Windows 8.1 Pro. I ha ve a problem with 2 devices, error is displayed in Device Manager for both.

The devices are:

  1. NI PXI-5412
  2. PXI-6251

The error message is the same for both:

This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)

If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.

Two other NI devices (PXI-6132 and PXI-6509) seem to be working without any problem.

We updated BIOS to the lates version available but to no avail.

Is this a known issue? Did anybody else encontered it and maybe found a soultion? I would appreciate your answers.

PXIe-4113 Supply, Avoid voltage overshoot when sense is open

$

Hi there,

I use the PXIe-4113 as a supply for several DUT's. The supply to each DUT can be switched on and off individually over high side switches controlled with a relay card (PXI-2571), the sense of the suppy is switched as well with the relay card to the selected DUT.

That all works just fine for me, as long the relays do what they should do. But since the relay card is mechanical, I have to expect that a relay does not close properly, has a hang, weak contact or something else.

One example would be a damaged relay or hi-side switch which controlls the DUT supply:

If the supply to the DUT is open due any kind of error but the sense is connected to the DUT, my supply may drive the voltage up to >10V. The sense will be pulled to GND over the DUT.

Well that's no problem you might think, because this voltage is not connecte to the DUT, right? Yes, but if this is caused by a bad relay contact and the relay suddenly starts to make contact again, I have the >10V on the DUT which will be destroyed even it is for a very short time before the supply sets back to the defined voltage.

I would be happy if there is any way to avoid this in the software because otherwise I would have to make some kind of protection circuit in hardware.

Any idea would be welcome.

Best regards

Real Time Machine is Disconnecting When Program is Run.

Hello everyone,

I'm new here so i appologize if i am posting this in the wrong spot. I'm having trouble implementing a simble PXIe code, I have a real time PXIe-8135 with a PXIe-6356 board in slot 2, a PXIe-6612 in slot 3 and slot 4, and a PXIe-6733. I'm trying to send in recieve several different inputs and outputs between boards, and I'm having a difficult time. whenever I run my code I get disconnected from the real time machine, a little box pops up that says " waiting for the target to respond," and has a button to disconnect from the target.  Has anyone seen something like this before? I've included my code below.

any advice would be great,

Thanks,

NI-PXI analog I/O range configuration

$

Hello,

I'm currently developing control of voltage source in LabView 2012. The voltage and current limitation of each channel of the source is controlled by analog outputs of FPGA of NI-PXI. However the resolution of the outputs is only 16 bits. Is possible to reduce the output range to gain higher sensitivity. In FPGA I/O palette, I have found the I/O settings but there is no option to configure range. Is possible to change the range in my FPGA Target application?

Thank you replies

PXIe Hybrid board in PXI 1 slot

Sorry if this has already been answered.

Can I plug a PXI hybrid card (J1 and XJ4 connectors) into a PXI 1 slot with J1/J2 connectors?

If so then will the PXI STAR and PXI trigger bus connectivity work (it looks like those pins match up OK).

Thanks.
