I am using NI PXI-8331 which communicates through 9 pin COM port . I need to know if there is USB alternative to this COM port which i could directly connect to my laptop (Win 7) which makes my work easier. If there is, then how and where can I get it?

Stepper motor moving at 0 velocity every 16,4 seconds

I hope i post this topic in the good section, if not please tell me where is the best place to post it 
Here is the hardware we are using:
- PXI-1033 updated firmware
- PXI-7330 updated firmware
- Stepper motor
- Driver Danaher motion No P70360 (updated firmware) adapted to the stepper
Here is the software we are using:
- NI Motion Assistant (updated)
- Labview 2014
Here is the problem:
We are running test but the motor position change by one every 16,4 seconds. We performed tons of velocity/acceleration/jerk tests and so on but nothing change the position drift.
We then try a 0 velocity test but every 16,4 seconds, the motor perform a new step. Idea? Suggestions?
The problem happens with Ni Motion AND LabView

PXIEe-1085 control of PCIe card
We have a PXIe-1085 chassis with a PXIe-8135 embedded controller and are looking at a third party peripheral card that only comes in a PCIe form factor. I understand that the bus structure is very similar, so communication is not likely to be a problem, but I'd like confirmation in two areas:
1) Is there an adapter to allow the PCIe card to interface with the PXIe 1085 chassis?
2) Is full PCIe bus functionality available from the PXIe-8135 controller across this hardware adapter?

Invalid Resource Name Error from the NI
Hi team,
I am trying to connect my system with the NI PXI 8331 MXI-4 . I have developed an application in C Language using the NI Drivers that accesses/communicates to the NI box. But at the initialization phase I get this "Invalid Resource Name" Error. Hence, I am not able to move further.
Does this error mean that I have been connected to NI box and It is to do with some minor errors?
Or Does it mean that I am still not able to communicate with the card ?
If so, what are the necessary drivers I need to install or make it work.

NI6587 using DCM not correctly detect clock
HI.
I have module NI6587 (PXIe-7962). I created my personal socketed clip using clip (NI6587DCM.ZIP) for NI6587 Connector Serdes but instead RegionalClockBuf (in Timing Engine.vhd) I use DCM_ADV element (TimingEngine_DCM.PNG).
I set input signal (STROBE) to NI 6587=60 MHz. In FPGA project (FPGA.ZIP) i check working clock from DCM (AcqClkBufR --> AcqClkBufRToLv) using indicator IO Module Present. As result i see next: sometimes indicator is on, sometimes is off, as if the signal appears and it is not.
Please help me - where I have a mistake?

I know how to generate a CW signal using NI RFSG in Arbitrary Waveform mode (please see the attached file), but I have not found out yet how to add AWGN to it.

Programmatically find if Chassis is using external 10 MHz (1085)
Hi all,
Is there any way for me to remotely determine if my PXIe chassis (1085) has locked on to the external reference I feed into its 10 MHz IN connection?
The manual states this is done automatically, but I'd like to make sure it is.
"You also can drive a 10 MHz clock on the 10 MHz REF IN connector on the front panel of the chassis. When a 10 MHz clock is detected on this connector, the backplane automatically phase-locks the PXI_CLK10, PXIe_CLK100, and PXIe_SYNC100 signals to this external clock and distributes these signals to the slots. Refer to Appendix A, Specifications, for the specification information for an external clock provided on the 10 MHz REF IN connector on the front panel of the chassis."
I am using LabVIEW, and couldn't find any drivers or VIs to do this.

[FlexRIO adapter module] unknown I/O module (NI5791)
Hi!
I recently reinstalled LabVIEW 2013 and MAX 5.5 together with all other device drivers after an update failure. I am using FlexRIO 7961R with NI5791, and after the reinstallation, the FAM is no longer recognized. When I click on the "status" under my FPGA project, it shows the IO module is "unknown", not matching any of the FAM ID number.
I have checked through the RIO driver (13.0) and other drivers that might be dependent (FAM support 3.4 etc), the versions seem to be fine. Any idea why this happened?

Testing the 4110 in Cal Exec 3.6
We are trying to get rid of our XP computers so upgraded Cal Exec from 3.4.1 at the same time. The new 4110 test has 4 added sections. There is no README file so I am stumbling through. First, I discovered that it really wants you to use the their PXI-4071 DMM. Next, I was able to step through and find that there are 10 new resistive loads I will need to complete the Load Regulation tests. However, it chokes on Line Regulation. At this point, it starts calling for an adjustable supply instead of the APS-4100 external supply that was used for all tests up to this point. Of course, there is nothing to tell what supply it wants me to use. Does anyone use this? Can you fill me in on what additional resources are required?

PXI Chassis Not Recognized Correctly in MAX
Hi, i have an ADlink pxis-2670 14 slot chassis and NI pxi-8110 controller that do not seem to identify properly in max. I have the latest chassis and controller ini files installed but when i identify the chassis as a pxis-2670 it just shows pxi backplane in max. This would be fine, all the pxi modules are correctly listed (although the pxi-8110 seems to disappear after i identify the chassis) but i dont have the standard trigger bus routing option tab. I would like to route a trigger from bus 1 to bus 2. This doesn't seem to be possible unless there is a way to do so in the advanced visa options?
I have tried clearing the configuration many times and starting over but this hasn't helped. Any suggestions or alternate ways to connect the trigger buses?
I've attached some screenshots from max as well as the pxisys.ini file that was generated.

Try to install software on RT PXI 1082 target
Hi,
I try to run a PXI-1082 chassis (Recovered with Factory parameters) but I have some troubles when I try to install softawre on it via NI-MAX from another PC connected with ethernet cable.
First, I saw a problem from PXI chassis BIOS when I booted PXI chassis in RT mode : "ph_exec.exe is missing". PXI chassis started in RT safe mode.
Secondly, I have correctly detected Chassis with MAX on PC with correct IP address but when I tried to install software on it, an error message looks like that occured : "No more space in hard disc or input output error occured". I think this is a consequence to previous message "ph_exec.exe is missing".
Could you please help me for this trouble?

PXI-MXI chassis times out only in MAX
Hi all,
I am using a PXIe-1062Q chassis, connected to my laptop via a PXIe-8361 and the MXI express card. Recently, on opening of MAX, the system times out and an X is shown on the PXI chassis. This happens whenever I start MAX, oddly though, the system works correctly if I access the hardware via LabVIEW and not MAX. If I try to access the hardware in LV after MAX times out, LV also times out with a DAQmx hardware error.
This issue started yesturday morning, another interesting fact is that before yesturday morning, on a fresh boot/reboot MAX would correctly identify the chassis and cards, but if I waited a while and then opened MAX, the system would timeout.
I am leaning to DAQmx (14.5.1) timing out in MAX. When the timeout occurs, I can no longer look at tasks, Network Devices (2 LXI supplies), or software. When I click one of those items, the down arrow disappears and nothing is shown below them as a subset.
Should I reinstall MAX? DAQmx?

PXI SYSTEM DETECTED AS NI-GenericDesktopPC IN MAX
Hi All,
We are trying to configure our system for FPGA programming . But something is a little strange. When I open MAX from HOST computer, my PXI is not listed under remote systems. Instead under remote system, what appears is NI-GenericDesktopPC-2FXXXX from where we can see our target device NI PXI-7833R under Devices and interfaces. The PXI System appears as unidentified. We are using PXI system with NI PXI 7833R inserted in one of the slots as our target. Is this normal? See the attachement for more details. Any suggestions?

Read DC motor current using NI PXI-6254
Hello,
I would like to measure the current in a DC motor. I placed a 1 ohm resistor in series with a DC motor. The current to my DC motor is controlled with an LDU-S1 which is a voltage controlled current source amplifier. I set the voltage of the amplifer to a low but constant value. So, the motor is rotating slowly. I am trying to use an SCB-68 block connected to a PXI-6254 to read the voltage across the resistor which would be proportional to the current (I am essentially trying to measure current).
The issue is this - everytime I connect the propbes of A0 channel of the SCB-68 across the resistor, it makes a spark at the connection and the motor starts rotating very fast i.e. a huge current is going through the motor. In fact, the current draw is so high that my LCD display flickers for a short interval with a little noise superimposed on the actual image of the desktop. It was the type of noise we see when we hot-plug the connector of the display into the system when the system is running. This is happening even before I configure the DAQ or run a VI - mind you, this is happening even when LabVIEW isn't running.
I am clueless about what is going on and don't want to end up burning the DAQ or worse, even the Chassis housing it. Does anyone know what it means and how to solve this problem.

Wanted (dead or alive) PXIe Controller (or just the I/O board from it)
Stupid me--I bricked a PXIe-8105 Controller by installing the wrong firmware update! It was in a 1062Q chassis that was donated to our educational program for kids. Does anyone have controller or the I/O board working or not? We can repair (or at least attempt), but if there is a working one for a reasonable price, so much the better.

PXI: no devices (MAX), fail to connect or deploy
Hello,
I have been trying to use a PXIe-8135 and according to MAX the status is "Connected - Running" but once I try to connect or deploy from the project it opens a dialog box saying "Fail to connect to the target". Also, I cannot see any of the modules currently in the PXI on MAX under Devices and Interfaces.
Note: I am using LabVIEW professional 14.
