PX1-1402 and PXI-8360/PCI8361

Hello,

Currently I have PXI-1402 with PXI-8330 interface to PC via PCI-8330. I just have new PC that has 3.3V PCI type so I can't use PCI-8330 with this PC.

Can I use PXI-8360 with PXI-1402? And connect it to PC via PCI-8361.
Are there any option that I still can use PXI-8330 with 3.3V PCI bus?

Not able to detect second PXI chassis which is connected to first chassis using MXI cards

Hello,

I have 2 PXI chassis the first one is 1085 with 8115 controllers and 8364 MXI card, the second one is 1045 with PXI 8360 MXI card which is connected to 1085 chassis. I am trying to see both chassis and all cads in MAX, but I don't see 2nd chassis 1045 and related PXI cards I have in 1045 Chassis. 

 

I am using NI platform service 14.0 

Devices in PXI-1033 appear in MAX, chassis does not

I have a PXI-1033 with two PXI-2529s installed in it. Both PXI-2529 devices appear in MAX and pass self test, but the PXI-1033 does not. The PXI-2529 devices show "N/A" for PXI Chassis and PXI Slot, and are listed along side the DAQ device that is in a PCIe slot in the PC. Both PXI-2529s pass self-test and display their serial numbers in MAX. I can operate the switches on them using the soft front panel.

 

The drivers are older, but a proven (and version locked) configuration that has been deployed 5-6 times prior. The PXI-1033 is always on before the computer is turned on. I have tried changing the slot of the PCIe MXI card and resetting the MAX configuration data, but the problem remains.

 

I'm at a loss for what else to try. I could uninstall/reinstall PXI Platform Services, but I'm not sure what else to do. Any ideas?

How can two sets of HDD-8266 be configured as one simple volume with doubled streaming performance and storage space, as guided in 

NI HDD-8266 Datasheet (http://www.ni.com/datasheet/pdf/en/ds-505) ? 

Or, does this article not say that one simple volume can be configured using multiple sets of HDD-8266?  Does it implicitly say same number of volumes (drives) should be created as the number of HDD-8266 in system, then, specify different drive letters for file saving, so that the total performance and space can be increased for the multiple numbers of HDD-8266 in system?

I have two HDD-8266 and would like to set up one volume by using the two HDD-8266s, so that the volume can get doubled streaming performance and storage space. 

NI HDD-8266 Datasheet (http://www.ni.com/datasheet/pdf/en/ds-505) mentions that

 

"In a high-performance PXI Express chassis such as the NI PXIe-1085, you can increase the total stream to/from disk rates by using multiple HDD-8266 RAID enclosures. For example, in a single NI PXIe-1085 chassis with an NI PXIe-8135 embedded controller, you can interface two HDD-8266 enclosures to achieve a total stream to/from data rate of 7.2 GB/s."

 

This is exactly what I would like to achieve. 

 

I followed "Setting Up NI HDD-8266 RAID Configuration (http://www.ni.com/tutorial/53938/en/)".  Just with using only one set of HDD-8266, I successfully got 3.59GB/sec benchmark results with example programs of Adv. Async. TDMS Write/Read.  However, there is no guide of how to configure two sets of HDD-8266 as one volume in the document.  

 

Therefore, I visited MicroSemi support page to find further information, and found an article of "Is it possible to create an array that includes hard drives from multiple RAID controllers?" (http://ask.microsemi.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2345/~/is-it-possible-to-create-an-array-that-includes-hard-drives-from-multiple-raid).  According to this article, it is not possible to configure two controllers to set up one volume.

PXIe-5423 with NI-TClk

Does anyone have any experience with NI-TClk with a dual channel PXIe-5423.  I have two dual channel cards that I need to synchronize.  The synchronization on one dual channel module should be automatic, but I need to synchronize with the other module too.  Previously I was using NI-TClk with 3 PXIe-5422 arbs.  Eventually I would like to have four channels, which is part of the reason I upgraded.  My existing code for NI-TClk doesn't work, so I'm hoping someone has done this before with these new modules.

6682 IRIG-B year 2026

Hello

I've 6682 cards, when they work with GPS time reference, there is no problem.

But when work with IRIG-B AM time reference, the year is 2026.

On oscilloscope the IRIG-B signal seems well.

Software were old, so i've update NiSynch to V17.0, NIDAQ to V17.6

And now in NI Max, if I click on "Test Pannel" there is nothing.

Before updating I could use these pannel.

 

So my first question, how can I install this panel for V17 ou V17.6?

My second question, how can I explain to my card we are in 2018?

Error -89126 on PXIe-6366 with Python

We have multiple PXI platforms and are seeing this error on many of them after a driver update:

DAQError: DAQ1 Error -89126: Trigger line requested could not be reserved because it is already in use.

 

The software behind the communication to the DAQ is python, and all of our scripting is done in problem.  The problem is if the script terminates after selecting the trigger line, but terminates early before the DAQ is triggered, on the next run we get the error.  Up to know, the only way we can clear the trigger line is to perform a HW reset on the system.  There is nothing we can find in NI Max to clear the trigger.  Is there another way to go in a clear the trigger?

Why would I use a high speed serial instrument over a regular RIO board?

What differentiates the high speed serial instruments from a regular FPGA RIO board?  Is it primarily that they allow you to implement and validate serial protocols with less development effort than the regular RIO boards or are there certain things which you physically cannot do with a regular RIO board that you can do with one of the high speed serial instruments do to the actual hardware?

Hello,

I have a PXIe-4141, utilizing the NI-DCPower soft panel i am trying to set my current to 1mA but no matter what i set it too i am only able to get 1uA output from the unit as read on both the soft panel and the 3458A.  Any ideas why?

x8 PXIe Carrier Card decimating down to x1 rates on PXIe chassis

Currently , our setup is a  PXIe-1071 chassis with a PXIe-8821 controller and x8 PXIe carrier card from Elma electronics with a custom XMC mezzanine frame grabber card. My hope was to validate that our custom XMC framer grabber worked on NI PXIe hardware. The issue we are running into is the received image data is decimated down to 250 mb/s which is PXIe 1x rates. The data should be coming in at double that rate but there seems to be bottle neck somewhere. I know it is not he mezzanine card because we have validated it works on a PCIe carrier card . The techs from ELMA state it must be the PXIe chassis but it supposed to support  PCIe 4x. Is there any way i can force the chassis to output PCIE x4 ? Or do you possibly know where the bottleneck can be?   

No PXIe modules seen in project and one not detected by MAX

Hello there,

 

Preamble: I have a new PXIe-1071 chassis with an 8100 controller, 7961R FPGA with attached 6587 adapter, and a 6341 DAQ. I have been trying to install the needed systems to the PC to start programming this system but have only had limited success. I'm sorry to trouble you, person in the mist, but it has been two days and I've run though so many online guides they are blurring together.

 

Symptoms: Of my PXIe modules, all are seen in MAX except the 6341 DAQ. Also, when I open a new Project and add a new "Target and Device" the chassis can be added, but none of the modules appear.

System Context: I am on a Windows 10 computer running LabVIEW 2017 with FPGA and Real-Time Modules installed. Below you can see the state of MAX and the NI Licence Manager.

PXI 1042 Chassis with 8108 Embedded Controller & Kontron CP3002

Hi,

 

We have a chassis with two controllers installed the 8108 from NI and the CP3002 from Kontron. All the cards right now (RS-232 & network cards) in the chassis are being picked up by the NI embedded controller. Is there a way to pass these cards or be able to use these cards with the CP3002?

What controllers and chassis support Gen2 x8 PXI transfers?

 I put in a service request for this, but I'll also post here.

 

We're looking at getting our PXI chassis to talk 10GbE Ethernet, which the
PXIe-8238 provides.  However, to get full bandwidth, the specs say that it
needs a Gen2 x8 PXI connection.  I need to know if our current chassis and
controllers will support this.  We currently use PXIe-8840 controllers and
PXIe-1065 and PXIe-1082 chassis.  Will we need to upgrade in order to get full
10Gb bandwidth?  What would the bandwidth likely max out at if our current
hardware doesn't do Gen2 x8 PXI?

 

Is there an easy resource that describes these capabilities on NI's website somewhere?

PXIe 4330 uses/applications

I'm using PXIe-4330 terminal blocks for collecting load cell data (using Wheatstone-bridge-based sensors).  I'm wondering if these types of terminal blocks also collect analog inputs that are not strain-gage based bridges?  I need very small variations in voltage read from a peizoresistive sensor.  If this is possible, can someone point me in the direction of how I would go about setting this up from a DAQ perspective?  

Sorry if this is a preliminary question.  I'm new to the whole DAQ process.  Thanks!

super basic question but I've just spent an hour on the website....

 

Can I set the PXIe-2526 so that all 158 channels are closed, i.e. send 3V in and split it into 158 outputs at the same time?

According to the Microsoft, for activation, internet connectivity is required.

 

And I do not know whether I can connect to the internet with NI PXI 1042 (Windows)

DMM4065 sometimes produce "time exceeded before operation completed" for R measurement

Hey,

sometimes, niDMM Measure produces "time exceeded before operation completed" for R measurement.

We don't specify explicit time out value.

We use LabVIEW2016 with 2017 PXI drivers.

Any idea what's the reason and how to prevent this?

Perform VIH/VIL Test using SMU Sequence Functionality

I want to perform VIH/VIL Test for a certain device. I'm thinking of configuring the Source Mode to Sequence for Channel 0 (VIN). This will perform a ramp of VIN from 0V to 5V with 0.1V increment. But, I cannot figure out how to simultaneously perform measurement (synchronized) on Channel 1 (VOUT) for every step (sourcing from 0V to 5V with 0.1V increment) in the sequence performed on Channel 0 (VIN).

 

My aim is to get the results faster by removing the communication latency between the host computer and SMU among each measurement of a sequence. I'm actually using NI-DCPower Hardware-Timed Two-Channel Voltage Sweep.vi as my reference.
